I couldn't think of the name of this show for shit and didn't want to look it up, but that is where I first knew him from.
After that, it was the UFC as a commentator. The way he would talk on there kind of made me give him the side eye. For example, when describing a white fighter, he would use words that spoke to intellect like the person was tactical or strategic. However, with Black fighters the description would be based on physical things like being a beast or being expolsive. Back then, I thought maybe I was being sensitive. Until the controversy with the movie theater with Black people being like planet of the apes shit. While I don't know that I'd call him racist, I do think he maybe bigot or maybe ignorant is a better term. I don't think he hates Black people as much as have somewhat uniformed thoughts.
As far as him being woke in his youth. Who you are at 20 compared to 40/50 can be very different. If the woman was saying the change was over night, it would be more to discuss. That and who says the woke version was his true self. Like a lot of people that could have been his public personia at that time.
