And trust me as a hip hop lifer I GET IT. This is rap "competitive sport"
But I have also heard from many people actually IN HIP HOP who REALLY respect what Cole did and wish others had been brave enough to do the same. Maybe we would still have some of our best here with us if some of these beefs (minor or major) were settled like this.
@therealjondoe Jon Jon? You would be surprised. You don't got to believe me. But for some reason this hit certain people in hip hop in an unexpected way.
I think its just the older you get, the amount of bullsh*t you seen the death and shooting and grudges and blackballing etc
To see a young Black man actually be mature PUBLICLY and THEN for it to be kinda received and defined as weakness?
To a lot of OGs its a little deeper than rap
Like why is a Black man showing vulnerability and accountability and admitting a mistake seen as WEAKNESS?
Like we aint human?
I just wonder if this was any OTHER group would we react that way?
But its complicated because rap is so built on competition. But its like now in the culture we pick and choose. We get VERY judgmental when its CONVIENTENT. We say we want positivity blah blah but we here for the bullsh*t till someone gets hurt and suddenly its why we so immature?!
Whatever...
My only question is WHERE DRAKE?
