But he does have a point. Wheres the line that separates gatekeeping and protecting?
And while gatekeeping to an extent does exist, K Dot is an example of someone that's trying to protect the culture.
In my book protecting the culture and gatekeeping is in the same reality.
He has a good point. Was weird seeing Drake (and Drake to a lesser degree) asking to see proof for Kendrick's claims but not needing any proof about the Dave Free allegation which really kicked off the personal attacks. I've also see Kendrick fans do the same for the record.

But I disagree
Cole hit K back apparently conversations were had and he called time out. Signally to BOTH sides this ain't going to go well.
Kendrick reached out to drake directly and asked as a father and a son lets keep the family out of this after Drake initiated it with the Whitney talk.
Drake said no.
And after the shooting K stopped and Top and pglang never went hard on social media.
To me as much as this fight went way too far on both sides? I don't feel Kendrick "lost" in any way.
He won this battle but based on everything we do know about K he takes no joy in attacking another black (ish) man career family etc no matter if they are friends or not. Remember they used to be cool and Cole the last few months had been trying to bring the big 3 together. It did not have to BE this.

And yes. Cole did win by backing out and admitting his mistake. But he's not the winner in all of this Kendrick is.

Overall the battle the skills the creativity yeah that was good. Kendrick is king. Drake got dinged and gonna have to earn his position back
But a lot of really bad happened in a very very short time.
We don't need records forever dissing parents and wives and children in 2024. We kinda should know better. Tradition is one thing. Not learning from our mistakes is another.
I told a musician the same thing recently when he argued this beef is what rap was founded on. I 100% agreed. I also said it was founded on bad contracts and rich Jewish folks profiting off your talent death and suffering. I see yall making sure to keep that alive too.

I could "enjoy" it simply on its face.
