A recent Kevin Gates interview got more than a little awkward when the interviewer touched his arm. Gates responded with some major side-eye before bluntly rubbing his arm in the affected area:
The whole thing went down this past weekend at Hot 107.9’s FM annual Birthday Bash concert. Radio personality DJ Traci Steele tried to welcome the rapper before he was set to hit the stage, but Gates seemed to be less up for talking then usual. The whole thing got off to a rocky start when Steele put her hand on his shoulder. Gates seemed visibly disgusted as he stepped back away to create an ever bigger space between the two.
Steele proceeded to shoot some more questions Gates' way to get some kind of response, but he responded with pretty short and vague answers that were about a sentence long regarding what he had planned for his performance. As for what he has coming up, he told Steele, "I don’t let the left hand know what the right hand is doing. So you’re just going to have to stay tuned." The excruciatingly awkward interview went pretty much the same way for the two-minute period as Steele continued to attempt to extract some answers from the rapper.
People began to comment on the obvious awkwardness of the interview, prompting Gates to address it head on. "Look, my dog asked me the other day, he said, 'How come when that girl touched you, you wiped your shoulder off?'" Gates said speaking in a video post on Instagram. "I say first of all, I’m married. Second of all, I’m holy. Don’t put your dirty ass hands on me."
