Music Industry getting called out.

Consider the messages being promoted by the culture vultures.

Was she right?

Is the media cultivating an image of her as crazy to kill the positive messages in black music?

Of the world
Spun by evil men with lies
Only programmed to agree
With what we see before our eyes
Running after status quo
On a television show
Just a picture perfect life
It’s the only life we know
And this uncomfortable reality
Got me chasing, chasing fallacy
And the pace the pace is killing me
But I so willingly practiced it
Just like it’s my friend
When the whole world is a hustle

Exactly where did we arrive
In this manufactured life
to Sell my soul just to survive (yes)
In the game of numbers
I must thank the Gods of Industry
oh for the opportunity
or I display such loyalty
oh for the way that they exploit me (yes)

Oh to consider life outside of this
Just like a splinter in
My mind persists
But the ministry of fear exists
Only to keep me from knowing the truth
Stealing my youth (oooh)
When the whole world is a hustle

Escape familiarity
Means that I must face the fear in me
And do something with this greed in me
In order to address this need in me
Oh but I must confess
The pride I keep
Protecting as if it’s my friend
Oh, when will it end?
When the whole world is a hustle

To consider life
Outside of this
Just like a splinter in
My mind persists.
But the ministry of fear exists
Only to keep me from knowing the truth.
And it’s my excuse
When the whole world is a hustle

When it is, when it is.
(Instrumental)

Oh to escape this mere analogy
Means I must face the fear in me
And do something with this greed in me
In order to address this need in me
Oh but I must confess
The pride I keep
Protecting as if it’s my friend
Until the bitter end
When the whole of the world is a hustle

Everybodys got it going on (yeah right, yeah right)
Everybodys so damn strong (yeah right, yeah right)
When the whole of the world is a hustle
A hustle (x5)
I must exercise my faith
When the whole world is a hustle

Consider the messages being promoted by the culture vultures.

1st, what do u consider a 'culture vulture'? and what do u label a younger 'culture' that no longer supports music that previous black generations created and loved?

how many young headz do u see at blues festivals? or jazz festivals? how many are out there taking music lessons and learning how to continue the art and MUSIC for other generations?

I Get Out

I get out
I get out of all your boxes
I get out
You can't hold me in these chains
I'll get out

Father, free me from this bondage
Knowin' my condition is the reason I must change
Your stinkin' resolution is no type of solution
Preventin' me from freedom, maintainin' your pollution

I won't support your lie no more, I won't even try no more
If I have to die, oh Lord, that's how I choose to live
I won't be compromised no more, I can't be victimised no more
I just don't sympathize no more

'Cuz now I understand, you just wanna use me
You say love, then abuse me
You never thought you'd loose me
But how quickly we forget that nothin' is for certain

You thought I'd stay here hurtin'
Your guilt trip's just not workin'
Repressin' me to death 'cuz now I'm choosin' life, yo
I take the sacrifice, yo, if everything must go, then go
That's how I choose to live

That's how I choose to live
No more compromises, I see past your diguises
Blindin' through mind control, stealin' my eternal soul
Appealin' through material to keep me as your slave

But I get out
Oh, I get out of all your boxes
I get out
Oh, you can't hold me in these chains
I'll get out
Oh, I want out of social bondage
Knowin' my condition
Oh, is the reason I must change

See, what you see is what you get
Oh, and you ain't seen nothin' yet
Oh, I don't care if you're upset
I could care less if you're upset

See, it don't change the truth and your hurt feeling's no excuse
To keep me in this box, psychological locks
Repressin' true expression, cementin' this repression
Promotin' ma*s deception, so that no one can be healed

I don't respect your system
I won't protect your system
When you talk, I don't listen
Oh, let my Father's will be done

And just get out
Oh, just get out of all these bondage
Just get out
Oh, you can't hold me in these chains
Just get out
All these traditions killin' freedom
Knowin' my condition
Is the reason I must change

I just accepted what you said, keepin' me among the dead
The only way to know is to walk, then learn and grow
But faith is not your speed
Oh, you've had everyone believe

That you're the sole authority
Just follow the majority
Afraid to face reality
The system is a joke

Oh, you'd be smart to save your soul
Oh, and escape this mind control
You spent your life in sacrifice
To a system for the dead

Oh, are you sure?
Where is the pa*sion in this living?
Are you sure, it's God you servin'?
Obligated to a system, getting less than you're deserving

Who made up these schools, I say?
Who made up these rules, I say?
Animal conditioning
Oh, just to keep us as a slave

Oh, just get out
Of this social purgatory
Just get out
All these traditions are alive
Just get out
Superstition killing freedom
Knowin' my condition
Is the reason I must die

Just get out
Just get out
Just get out
Let's get out
Let's get out
Knowin' my condition
Is the reason I must die
Just get out

 that was the best song I've heard in a while

:yes::yes::yes:

That is why the music industry painted her as crazy so that we would not pay attention.

It's the same music industry that tried to get Akilah the Bee to do booty music:

"Keke Palmer, is the 14 year old girl who played Akeelah, in the movie, Akeelah and the Bee.She and her mother Sharon have a huge problem with the upcoming record deal they signed with Atlantic Records in March of 2006. The problem is that the record label wants to market the 14 year old as a sexpot but she does not want that image.

Keke admits “From the very beginning Atlantics A&R representative tried to get me to record inappropriate music, and my parents and I resisted.”

Soon Keke and her mom became tired of fighting the negative images that the label kept trying to force on her, and they started looking for a management company that could deal with the situation. They settled on DAS Entertainment, a management company out of New York.(John Legend label). One problem, the label has been blocking the efforts!

Atlantic kept telling them that “Keke is “urban”, and should be singing urban music”. Keke’s mom Sharon got her in touch with Mr. Edmonds ( Babyface) and he and Keke worked really well together and came up with a good commercial R&B song, but when it came time to pay for the song the label said no, he was “too expensive”.

Paul Porter of www.Industryears.com says “Keke Palmer is the poster child for what’s wrong with the music industry. Imagine being 12 year’s old and Atlantic Records trying to mold Keke in the mold of Lil Kim or Foxy Brown.”

The problem with the corporate hip hop machine is more than black and white. Unfortunately white America enjoys seeing and hearing about cultural misogyny, sex and violence. They honestly believe black America is the mix of lyrically challenged artist they promote."

If you put your head on the lap of the man holding the noose, who committed the crime- Malcolm X

While the world has certainly changed since 1998, The Miseduction of Lauryn Hill is as relevant then as it is now.
We sat down with Lauryn to find out exactly what that album meant to her while she was making it and why it went on to become a classic.

Listen, not denying that this industry is shady, but as much as I love Lauryn even I have to admit she was a little crazy. It's inevitable when you are portraying one thing and living another. F_cking with married men can mess your head up.

That being said, I get out is one of my favorite Lauryn songs. Helped me walk away from a bad situation.

Care to elaborate how it messes your head up, generally speaking?

:hmm:

Well I guess your head is probably already messed up if you do that, but... giving your affection and attention to someone who doesn't value you enough to be comitted to you can't be a good feeling, you also know you can't trust him cause he's lying to his family why would he be honest with you. I don't see how you could possibly feel good about yourself being in that position.

I asked a question cause you never know when you could learn something additional.

Never put myself in that situation so I don't know.

Don't be so quick to jump to conclusions, let's give each other the benefit of the doubt.

I just have a curious mind.....
