Mayim Bialik Doesn’t Accept Your Jeopardy! Criticism: ‘Just Let Me Read the Clues’

Mister Game Show Police, we read you all the clues, but you still picked Mayim Bialik as a Jeopardy! guest host despite her troubling history of anti-vaxx beliefs, snake-oil salesmanship, and shaming of Harvey Weinstein’s victims. And yes, Bialik is aware of the criticism, she acknowledged on Tuesday’s The Late Late Show for the first time. Per Yahoo News (due to the interview’s conspicuous absence on social-media channels), Bialik seemed confused that fans have been invested in the hosting drama that has plagued the show for several months now. (It’s been great for ratings, though.) “I was the headline on CNN three days in a row,” Bialik explained. “Who knew people were so passionate about who hosts Jeopardy?” Interesting! Tell us more, girlie. “I mean, I’m just trying to read the clues. You know, just let me read the clues,” Bialik continued. “The thing about Jeopardy! is we spend our whole lives wanting to be seen, you know, and this job is like — people should think the least about me as possible. Meaning, it’s my job to be the host, just like read the clues.” Sure, because “reading clues” on a lectern is the only prerequisite for the job. Being an arbiter of objective truth and knowledge is way overrated, anyway.

OAKLAND, CALIF. -- Reigning "Jeopardy!" champion Amy Schneider was robbed at gunpoint over New Year's weekend in Oakland, California.

Schneider tweeted about the robbery to her 52,000 followers, saying she was shaken up but otherwise OK.

"Hi all! So first off: I'm fine. But I got robbed yesterday, lost my ID, credit cards and phone. I then couldn't really sleep last night, and have been dragging myself around all day trying to replace everything," the Oakland resident said in her post.

Oakland police said in a statement they were still investigating the armed robbery that occurred Sunday afternoon and had not yet made any arrests.

Schneider, the first transgender contestant to qualify for the Tournament of Champions, won again on Tuesday's show bringing her impressive winning streak to 25 consecutive victories, earning her $897,600 in winnings so far.

The game show issued a statement saying, "We were deeply saddened to hear about this incident, and we reached out to Amy privately to offer our help in any capacity."

For a few shining months, Jeopardy fans around the world were buoyed by the idea that LeVar Burton would bring his epic knowledge, warmth, and years of hosting experience to the popular quiz show following Alex Trebek's death in 2020.
Ultimately, Burton didn't get the hosting gig, as the role went to former executive producer Mike Richards — and then, when Richards was ousted, to Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings, who share duties. Now Burton is opening up about the controversy surrounding the search for a new Jeopardy host, admitting that he was "not just disappointed, but wrecked" by the outcome.
"Experiencing a very public defeat, humiliation, if you will, was sobering," Burton says in an interview with Newsy's In the Loop airing Wednesday. "And what I learned from the experience, really, is that it reinforced my belief that everything happens for a reason, even if you cannot discern the reason in the moment. In the fullness of time, everything will be revealed. And like I said, it was I think in that first week of feeling really sort of not just disappointed, but wrecked. I didn't expect that I would not be their choice for host."

Burton, who long hoped to succeed Trebek and taped a one-week stint as a Jeopardy guest host last summer, also intimates that he wasn't ever seriously considered for the full-time job.
"I honestly thought that I was well-suited for it," he says. "As it turns out, it really wasn't a competition, after all, the fix was in."
Representatives for Jeopardy didn't immediately respond to EW's request for comment about Burton's remarks.
As for what Burton learned from the experience, he says, "I think it was a big lesson for me and just being willing to sit in the discomfort long enough to find out what was really supposed to happen for me around this game show thing."
The actor and former Reading Rainbow host, who's set to emcee the Scripps National Spelling Bee on Thursday, adds, "I'm a firm believer in betting on myself, and I would encourage anyone and everyone out there to to believe similarly in themselves. I'm always going to bet on me."

She isn't bad I think people were just surprised when Blossom came out of nowhere and started to host. Ken Jennings is the best choice imo

I'm cool with both of them but I thought Buzzy Cohen was the best...former champion, bright personality and style, also Young and could host it for the next few decades..
Disappointed that we didn't get to see Laura Coates but she's got better things to do
