KRS has already established the difference between a RAPPER and an EMCEE.

RAPPER - an Emcee as a Profession

Emcee - a Rapper without a job.

Yeah ..did you see that serious look on his face when he said it? :hmm:
he was obviously just quoting Lil Wayne...he wasnt speaking for himself...trust me.

What i wanna know is why was he even in a room full of lyrically wack niggas?
Is he tryna stay relevant to a bunch of clueless niggas that dont know shit about hip hop?

KRS is trying to put together a project and has to schmooze a lil bit for business. It may not be sincere or it may be sarcastic or just trying to respect Wayne's skills. Wayne may be hated by many hip hop purists but he does have some decent lyrical skills.

Wayne himself did not really embrace that title until after Jay-Z kinda stepped down. Many have tried to claim the title and Wayne admitted on an interview that it's mostly about the bragging culture inherent in hip hop. I think he said that after Jay-Z made some cutting remarks about this topic.

This was also not an occasion to debate serious opinions about the GOAT in hip hop. It seemed to be just an informal meeting. I seriously doubt if KRS, a self-proclaimed hip hop scholar and purist, really feels this way after over 30 years of hip hop history and taking into account the current state of modern hip hop here in the first decade of the 21st century.

He was just giving him props. I'm sure he didn't mean that literally. People just don't get sarcasm.

imo that ain't true. a rapper is a cornball with barely any lyrical skill that gets all the radio play. an emcee is a talented wordsmith that will put a verbal foot in ya azz for free inside a circle at an underground hip hop club

This will be the last thread in reference to KRS ONE I will ever pay attention to. Pretty much last time I ever pay any attention to KRS.

This is the guy who says hip-hop is the next big religion and Frederick Douglass was insane-- He's intellectual as far as rappers go but that's not saying much and the dude gets way too much credit for his intellect.

Still in my top ten but :smh: at him boosting up the cough syrup chugging troll boy.

I have been KRS ONE'S biggest fan for years. From the 80s.
I am now in a complete state of shock at what he just said
about that fucking lil rat who has destroyed hiphop.

I am at the point of no longer being a KRS ONE fan. That is how
much I hate that damn wayne/cashmoney and everything he/they represent.

Damn Kris, what the fuck man!

the world has lost its fucking mind.

Well your opinion is wrong. What you call underground Hip Hop Clubs use to be the norm before the Back Pack Era.

Rapper and Emcee are Interchangeable Terms
Ask any old head from NYC. If they been listening to this music since the late 70's - Early 80's, they will tell you.

It was them Backpackers who decided to act like it was different.
