Yes I know it's the basketball hall of fame and not the NBA hall of fame. I debated whether or not to put that in my post and decided not to because anyone that didn't know this shouldn't be in this thread. That's why I also put everybody gets in because college and international accolades are factored in.
Anyway Dwight won a gold medal, was the 1st pick in the draft straight out of high school, five 1st team all-NBA's to zero for Melo, four 1st team all-NBA defense to 0 for Melo, 3 individual awards, defensive poy to zero individual awards for Melo, seven times leading the league in a stat to one for Melo and Dwight actually got his team to the Finals once.
I'm not a Dwight Howard fan but he has easily had a much better basketball career than Melo even with Melo's college accolades.

They both get in first-ballot but Dwight had a better career simply because he played in the weak east
People don't remember the state of the league at center when Howard was at its height. He at one point was the best center in the league...and if not the best he was top 3. He became less important when guys like Drummond, Cousins, etc. came into the league offering more than just one or two aspects of the game. Dwight had a great career.

They need another center. Who's better out there than him? Javale played 22 mins last year, Howard played 25 mins. Drop both down to 20 mins, have Davis play small ball center at the end of games. I dont like him but he's a high energy guy coming off the bench which is desperately needed now that Cousins is injured.
Bynum was actually trying to learn to shoot. Lakers need a backup center and besides Dwight who's available? I think he will be a better fit with Lebron and he should know he's not the top dog. Bron will feed him for a few easy dunks as long as he plays d and rebounds. We just need 15 minutes out the dude.

Did the NBA lower its standards for HOF admittance? I doubt that HOF has even given Howard serious consideration and forget first ballot. His name may have come up but that's all. Next you'll be telling me Trump has never lied while president.
What did Howard accomplish? Where's his rings? MVPs? Leading scorer? Rebounds? Something? The 2 or 3 years he maybe averaged 20pts. Taken his team deep in playoffs.
He might lead in the number of cities and fans he's disappointed. IMO he's just not HOF material. Biggest NBA failure since Kenny Walker was drafted by the Knicks.
