Another semester has come and gone for The Uncanny Experience, the immersive X-Men Fan Convention that takes place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The historic Minneapolis Club was transformed in Xavier Institute for a 2-day explosion of mutant activity as attendees became students, attended classes, met creatives (like
Chris Claremont), and explored the halls of the mansion environment. Deeming itself “Sophomore Year”, the event is only two years old and already sold out before the start of the first day of class.

Creating its own universe within the X-Men fandom, The Uncanny Experience unveiled an “Institute House” system where attendees could choose to join either House Xavier, House Hellfire, House Morlock, or House Pryde. This activation allowed attendees to further immerse themselves into the boarding school environment and connect with X-fans on a deeper level as they associate their personalities with various brands within the X-World. House members were then treated to a wholly unique pep rally, a different experience for each house. Within the pep rallies, attendees participated in playful competition to be named the House Royal who would later be crowned at the After Party festivities.

The After Party in the Mansion brought everyone out for a night of dancing, drag, and a delightful activation of the Hellfire Club where attendees were brought into an exclusive room and proceeded to be inducted as new members of the Hellfire Club and were asked to vote for who would become the new ruler: Emma Frost or Selene. Granted if you were in the room, the vote was just the start of the action-packed performance.

Sunday inside the mansion saw the newly united members of each House take a classic portrait in front of a wood-paneled fireplace and a rousing Cosplay Contest where the Grand Prize Winner took home a trophy, two VIP tickets to 2025’s event, and a room to stay inside the mansion itself. The weekend concluded with the now traditional Graduation Ceremony where Claremont signed mutant diplomas and handed them to all the students in attendance in a true pomp and circumstance ceremony.
