Melissa Harris-Perry rejects MSNBC deal in scathing farewell

How was Obama "detrimental to black people and the working poor?"

Policy wise. Yes. This typical of Democratic presidents sincr Clinton because he moved us so fat to the right that Democratic presidents can do things that Republicans wish they could do. Self esteem for black people. Emphatically no especially since he charismatic. That is why we support him and are quick to denigrate anyone who questions his policies.

What policies did Obama push that were detrimental?

Man fuck Sharpton,he's a corporate puppet. Also don't forget he was on Billary's nuts during the 2008 Presidential run, then once Obama start gaining momentum he jumped ship
Actually I don't remember Sharpton being down with Hillary. I remember him being one of the only black folk in such position supporting then candidate Obama.

Too many BGOLers refuse to let shit like truth and facts get in the way.

I'm saying that Al, and I say this with the respect I've gained for him over the past 15 years (disliked him until I saw him debate during his pres runs where he actually came off ok).... Al was a suck as tv show host. I watched his show almost every day for the entirety of its daily evening run, and I'm on record here on BGOL as saying that in terms of content, it was a decent show. ....but Al never learned how to be a decent host. He's just not good at reading the teleprompter or the cue cards or whatever they use when he's reading prepared shit.

He has lots and lots and lots of uncomfortable pauses and mispronunciations. He is as bad at that now as he was when the show first started. You'd think that 4 years into a show, he would have become better, but he hasn't. It was painful at times to watch him almost struggle with his words, especially knowing that he can do better on a different forum. On radio I've heard him sound better, and as a guest, when he's talking off the cuff, he's better. It's particularly as a host, when he has prepared things that he has to say that he just flat out stinks. So, it is him being bad... at this format, as a host.

Andrea Mitchell is pretty bad sometimes too doing the same thing (pauses, etc), but she's pretty much a heavyweight in the field, so it doesn't hurt her as much.

Agree 100%. I also watched nearly every day and was excited when I first heard Al would be getting his own show, but he seemed to have a hard time adjusting to the host role.

That’s like asking what policies did the previous 18 presidents push that was detrimental to blacks. Since the 1900’s blacks still have some of the same concerns; so what policies have these 18 presidents pushed? If you don’t know I’ll give you a hint, “keeping the game going as status quo”. You can’t have a successful capitalistic system unless you have someone being taken advantage of which is another way of saying profits ie White neighborhoods turning Black then White again.

Just because you aren’t pushing one way doesn’t mean you are pulling the other.

So Basically in the end... MSNBC won and they get to keep any money they were going to pay her for severance. :dunno::dunno:

Now THIS... is what the paperwork will say in the end.

Yep. It doesn't seem unreasonable for an employer to not want you to bad mouth them. Especially using them to do it.

What other job can you expect to be able to talk disparaging about with impunity?

Any job you get fired from. Its your perspective to do what you want with the information. Its a risk but fuck it, the axe has already swung. She need to call up Bill Maher and ask him for advise.

She could turn her non fiction agenda into something potent if she went non fiction and stirred the pot. All she needs is a good agent and if need be, lawyer up when the wolves come. That's where half these TV shows get their info from - someone inside that spoke out against the establishment.

Her husband is negotiating on her behalf. That's terrible.

Seems like an educated brother. He litigated a lot of shit on poor folks behalf and did community work after failing in bids for mayor and state rep. These type of guys fall hard when shit goes against them but in a political business venue - he is known for playing hard ball with suits. I didnt agree with a lot of thinks Melissa said but I love her conviction when presenting her case.

This was one of those bluff moments where you show the boss I aint scared of you, bring it. It shuts down their initial back door attack but once its public, they have to save face - and even after that move, she pulled away. If anything, that's when you up your demands on return and gloss over the issue whenever you can in other media outlets but staying clear of accusatory statements and using real names.

Aint no fear in either of these two but she was dancing on the end of the sword and he was guiding it. Oh well. They will bounce back.

:hulksmash2: I just know her crazy ass is fire in bed.

This probably won't cause a disagreement

Yep. MSNBC will probably change direction and give FOXNews a run for its money if a REPUG is elected

No they are copying CNN. All news all day model. Their attempt to copy FOX failed.

The worst thing to happen to MSNBC beside being bought by Comcast was Brain Williams. Since his return they have merged NBC News with MSNBC.

I wouldn't be surprised if they scraped the name MSNBC for the NBC News Channel soon.
