If everyone knows that street vendor food can be hazardous to your health, how are those street vendors in business though? Who do they serve or cater to, it can't be the locals down there.
it's not like the US where vendors need permits and health inspections. India doesn't have the infrastructure we have. what's "clean" to us isn't what's "clean" to them, same for manners, way of life, etc. It's totally different culture
There are 1.4 billion people and a majority of them are POOR. Your rent or mortgage is higher than the average annual salary ($1400 USD) in India. We paid our driver about $420 USD/mo and his family was "middle class". If you make $20k USD/yr over there you're living good.
We were looking at apartments to stay at. We saw some that were 3000 sq ft for like $1k month and it's gated and has all the amenities: pool, gym, playground, some even had groceries stores and event hall.
so the people that are eating street vendor food are paying like 30 cents for a plate, eating with their hands and going on about their day. They can't afford to eat a sit down restaurant or order delivery like I did everyday when I was there
