From what I’ve read there were “warrior monks” and “shaolin monks”. “Warrior monks” protected the temple. Shaolin monks were more religious leaders. There’s a story behind the temple burning down. It didn’t just burn down. There was a fight and it was intentionally burned down. I wonder if Michael Jai White knows about Pai Mei “white eyebrow.” Who turned on the monks and killed a few of them.
Hes talking about movies. Now how much of what was there originally, was preserved and made it to today, he may have a point.
But if the temple burned down 400 years ago....?
That’s the thing about almost any of the original martial arts. They all get diluted when they are passed down. But he’s making it seem like there was no such thing as Monks who fought. Documented history says otherwise.
I took what he said as there weren't Shaolin Monks actually walking around wearing robes prior to the 80's. Life imitated art. Dumbass cacs went to China thinking they were learning in an ancient temple but generational Shaolin Monks when most of them niggas just applied for a job in the tourism industry.
i think what he meant was after it burned down there was no one left to continue the teachings.Lol.
Well, I’m not sure how he can come to that conclusion. Unless he believes all the stories about sixteenth century China, were fiction. The details are a little inconsistent, but there were monks, and he himself admits that there was a temple. Who does he think was in the temple? He said the temple was burned down 400 years ago, and then jumps to how monks were popularized in movies.
In the 16th century there were monks who practiced fighting.
i think what he meant was after it burned down there was no one left to continue the teachings.
thats why he used the example of the knights. and after the movies became popular they build a fake temple and put some people in it to represent the monks.
the thing is they only brought back the fake temple and monks because tourists paid money to see them.OK. I see. But there were supposedly some monks that survived.
He did more than challenge him...This MMA fighter recently challenged Michael Jai, after some comments he made about Kimbo Slice. I hope Michael can back up some of this talk. He’s well practiced, but Ive never heard of him actually even sparring against anybody.
Me neither. Which didn't bother me til this set of interviews where he got so much to say about actual fighting. His ego is through the roof for someone we've never actually seen fight. This MMA fighter recently challenged Michael Jai, after some comments he made about Kimbo Slice. I hope Michael can back up some of this talk. He’s well practiced, but Ive never heard of him actually even sparring against anybody.
Who is the MMA fighter and is he doing more than chasing clout? He did more than challenge him...
White boy called MJW a "bitch ass nigga" on Twitter and told him he'd fight him in Dana White's backyard.....

not sure if serious
dude actually got his start fighting.
Mike Perry is the fighter. MJW backed away from commenting because this dude has a history of taking shit too far on Twitter and in interviews in the name of hyping up a fight. He said a lot of shit before because he feels he has a hood pass because of his upbringing and some DNA tests that show he's like 2% African... he's let that n word slip a few times but this time when he did it calling mjw a bitch ass nigga a black female ufc fighter got pissed and got on his ass...Who is the MMA fighter and is he doing more than chasing clout?
You talking about the Boxers and the Boxer rebellion who were of the same nature as Shaolin but a more modern and volatile personality "55 Days in Peking". The one interesting thing that Jai mentioned is that technology catches up with everything".Because the temple burned doesn't mean the practice stopped. Even Mao couldn't stop the practice of the monks during the cultural revolution.

You try too hard. You’re not African by any stretch of the imagination. He is talking nonsense. I am an African, and this is the first time I have heard that an African his "complexion" too martial arts to Shaolin. Give the chinks their credit; whether Kung Fu is effective or not, it is their thing.

It's a video of him showing Kimbo some techniques, as far as the way he throws his punches.I listened to the Vlad interview and I have no fucking clue what Perry was upset about.
All MJW said was that they were shooting a scene and Kimbo wasn’t reacting to the fake punches (because he didn’t see it), which led to MJW demonstrating those punches. After showing Kimbo how to react, he invited Kimbo to train with him. I don’t think MJW was trying to train him on how to be an MMA fighter, he wanted to show him a technique that would improve his awareness.
Recall, Firaz had GSP learn how to do a spinning back kick from Joe Rogan, and there was no uproar with that.
Is it the video where he's showing Kimbo how he was telegraphing his punches by bowing his shoulder before throwing a punch? It's a video of him showing Kimbo some techniques, as far as the way he throws his punches.
Thanks for the info.

That was a great teaching moment that any fighter could learn from....
