Movie News: Ryan Coogler & Michael B. Jordan - SINNERS - jim crow era vampire flick (SPOILERS OPEN!!!)

He was always cold to me….but I seen Magazine Dreams? He’s the best actor in Hollywood. He had this shit in the palm of his hands. He was gonna get an Oscar and sky was the limit.

And Hollywood know it. They just waiting for this stench to get off him. They not gonna wait long he’s gonna co star in something and gonna get that shit back.

He’s also a weirdo. But them be the best artists.
I hope so. But according to big bro @playahaitian he needs to behave lol

HNIC is white and you post on his message board several times a day CAC lover.

You prolly can't even speak your people's language and are unfamiliar with their customs. Being in captivity for so long around Euros, you're just a white American now, you've lost all your Africaness.

Long as he stay with Megan and stay out the spotlight doing these weird ass interviews. He’s a dick head. He’s not likeable at all lol. I noticed it 3 years ago before this shit went down he does not interview well. He should’ve got some seasoning out there in Cedar Hill lol.

He just doesn’t know how to turn his acting off so his humbleness and humility comes off forced.

He gonna get his back though. He has nothing coming up at all according to IMDB. I know last year he got attached to a movie that was sci fi…they not touching this guy at all some indie director needs to holler.

Lets bump this thread

"Coon" is a Black American slang term. There you go again trying to be something you're not and relying on some shit we created to sound like us. Africans and Caribbeans don't have a slang term for sellouts because selling out is a huge part of the economic immigrant experience.

U for real.?

I never understood this until I went to prison
(Pause)
I met a Nigerian brother and he broke it down, it’s all about who conquered your village
Yoruba has been lost/kept a secret for lack of better words due to colonization and murder for religion
Islam is making it a popularity thing (oh Islam is fastest spreading religion, etc) when actually it’s brutal rape murder and present day slavery

Why u crying tho? I hurt ya feelings? Nah u was the man right? Coming at me? Lets go bump the thread. U @HNIC he called u a whole cac. He said u put Raisins and carrot in ur salade and brush ur teeth with mayo whats up with that?

The closest Ultra panavision theater near me is in Columbus an hour and 39 minutes away. I might have to do this either today or tomorrow. Today depends on how long the married woman I'm fucking is going to stay
Welp, the married chick didn't leave until 5 and I was too tired to drive yesterday, so I'm going today. I already bought the tickets, so ultra panavision Columbus here we come

No, you ooga boogas always want to play Black Americans on screen and ride the wave of our stories.

Oogas boogas only play Black Americans because crackers don't want to hear their real accents. This movie in particular is carried by a Black American lead. If it was led by an ooga booga it would've flopped.

"Our roles"? You don't own shit. Name one movie that was written about you..... besides broke back mountain. And white dudes played your role.
I'm so sick of this black Americans versus Black British motherfuckers shit.

Here in America there are not a lot of opportunities for black people to devote their lives to plays and take care of themselves. From what I hear, in the UK there are a lot More opportunities for black actors to hone their skills in plays and it's also possible that they have more supportive family members who don't look to kick them out as soon as they hit 18 (something that is very common here in America).

We're all black. Now, when they start casting Colin Farrell to play Malcolm X, then I want to hear all the uproar, but nobody said a word when Idris Elba played stringer bell.

This is a pointless argument, and y'all need to stop. Stop with the black American versus Black British. Both people audition for roles and the best person they thought was qualified got the role. Most people never even knew Wunmi Mosaku was British with Nigerian ancestry.

Again, say something when they cast Leonardo DiCaprio as Martin Luther King Jr, but as long as they cast someone black I don't care. Did you care when they had dark skin Chadwick Bozeman playing thurgood Marshall? No? Why not? Exactly, because he was black. End of story

Brit Nigerians suck playing Black Americans. Every single film they played a lead in as us has flopped and not a single one is considered a classic. They are scabs who only get work playing us (for much cheaper pay), and can't get jobs playing themselves. John Boyega is bitter with Hollywood because he tried to parlay his roles into promoting Nigerian stories and Hollywood told him to fuck off.

Next you gone say Afro beats artists are the same as R&B singers.

Give this same movie to a Brit Nigerian director and lead actor and it would've flopped too.

I hear all this but I'm just trying to figure out what Megan gets out of all of this. Like she could be with anyone in Hollywood. I know people can come off awkward in public, but I'm not convinced he's always like this. I remember watching michael jackson interviews and he used to come off weird and shy but when he's on stage, he's "on".

David Oyelowo talks about this on higher learning....yall should listen to the whole interview, but I started it at 40:00. I think this black british vs. black american is something among us and not necessarily the actors themselves, especially considering that Oyelowo is an actual mentor and "big bro" to Jonathan Majors. At the end of the day, we're all black.

You have your own Mrs. Pearline?
Yessir I did. She was a lot thicker, sweater puppets on swole. but at least I got some brains. Preacher Boy just ate cat lol. But ole girl was calling out my name, too.

I told her to watch out on that calling name thing around and be calling my name when she with her husband and I'm going to have some trouble

That part right there: at the end of the day we're all black.

I wish this argument would end, but you got @KingTaharqa saying every movie they are in flop and this, this, that and the third.

Did you hear this type of nonsense when Hugh Laurie was playing House from White people? No.

And here comes the divisiveness.
We really can't help ourselves.

Thread was going fine, until @keone and @mcgyver came in trolling unprovoked while I was discussing the movie with another poster. They started it. :dunno:

I think it's appropriate immigrants disrespecting a Black American in a thread about a Black American movie. It's why most of us don't care to see them portraying us on the screen. They're different people with different experiences.

Here is an upcoming movie of Idris Elba playing a Brit and using his normal accent. This should be the bulk of their work. Al Pacino is Italian and played a Cuban in Scarface, some liked it, some didn't. But if Pacino played a Cuban in 90% of his movies and rarely played an Italian, no one would view him as a legendary actor. Range means something. Only being able to play one type of role with vocal coaches carrying you isn't a great actor. It's one dimensional sorry.
