Movie News: Ryan Coogler & Michael B. Jordan - SINNERS - jim crow era vampire flick (SPOILERS OPEN!!!)

Grace (Asian shop owner) got AMPED TF UP up in response to the Vampires threatening to take the life of her daughter who was across town at the shop. That totally made sense that a mother would fight for the safety of her seed, in lieu of waiting out the night. That part of the scene made sense and did not come off as a cliche.

Hell, Grace had me amped up too, and ready to soldier up next to her  :roflmao:
That part. When Remmick Said he was going to go to her store and get their daughter Lisa she lost it. And the way she died burning while stabbing her husband in the heart, freeing him to be able to die and dying with him. That was powerful

Something I saw in a youtube comment section that I hadn't considered, with Smoke and Stack:

They’re also dressed for their respective mafia “families!” Stack is dressed like Al Capone because he was with the Italians and Smoke is straight out of Peaky Blinders because he was with the Irish!I love this detail because the costumes don’t only distinguish the twin characters, it also establishes that they split up at one point, likely how they managed to rob BOTH sides and make a clean break. “Boss I was with you that night!”

Not confirmed by Coogler and company (as far as I know), but it is an amusing possibility lol

How were they going to get to town? She flipped out when it was revealed she wasn't no different from Mrs. Pearline, and she loved to get her pussy licked up and sucked quick.
We just saw that dude jump and it took the Choctaw about a half hour to get there. Who's to say they couldn't jump to town?

Sometimes a threat is enough to convince you when the person delivering the threat takes advantage of your love which outweighs your sensibility.

If I said I was going to kill your blank, even though I don't even know your real name, a natural reaction would be, "Motherfucker I wish you would. Bring your motherfucking ass and I will lay your ass down where the fuck you stand. 18 holes in your ass, bitch."

I'm just saying, her reason for freaking out made sense in her head, especially with her being a mother

(A friend of mine, a white guy just sent this review)

Bro that might be the best vampire story ever told! The acting direction story writing set design wardrobe all of it was just excellent spot on. I totally enjoyed that movie I was jamming to the music.

Such a good film bro. I missed like four and a half 5 minutes after the main vampire with his crew of three shows up and tries to convince them to let him in before they know their vampires because I had to pee so bad. And how do I didn't miss much but I might have to watch it in theaters again just to get that part

Bro I might go this weekend! I mean it was just phenomenal! And even that idea of like musicians that draw the power out of the spirit world to them both light and dark and like nurture people with the music that's a powerful and I think legitimate aspect of the story

The reality was it was actually very easy to kill Grace's daughter and that threat was real.

Remmick had turned Bo into a vampire and he had Bo's thoughts (remember Grace knew this because he spoke to her in Chinese and knew what she liked).

All Remmick had to do was to tell Bo to go into town at night and get his daughter Lisa to invite him into their home (Lisa doesn't know that her father is a vampire and is being controlled by Remmick).

Wunmi was very different than when she was B 15 on Loki...

I'm going to get a ticket to Sinners and go see The accountant 2 instead. Black power. Shush don't tell anybody lol
When I tell you I'm so glad I paid to go see Sinners only to walk into The Accountant 2. Not that the accountant was a bad movie, but I hate when a movie tries to be more than it is.

In the movie Sinners , there was about 45 minutes worth of stuff before the vampires even showed up. This got you to care about the characters, great character exposition and all that. For the accountant, they added some unnecessary fluff shit that could have taken a good 35 minutes to 40 off of the film and it wouldn't have cost anything that would have been missed.

This is why I respect Ryan Coogler and how he writes. You don't add unnecessary fluff for no reason that adds nothing to the story. They added some nonsense where the accountant cracks a dating site code. Why?

It ended well, but I'm glad it didn't get my money. It started off in a manner that I wondered why they even made the movie for 45 minutes. It redeems itself, but only to make you more annoyed as to question why didn't they start with all the stuff that added to the actual story versus having been Affleck crack a speed dating site code and then piss every woman off at the speed dating table event. Just dumb

Also it is no threat to sinners. There was just me and two other people in the whole theater

Cool, I was checking the AMC Lincoln Square 13 theater's seating chart around 6, 7:00 AM, and it indicated that every show was "Almost Full."

What I found interesting about this was that the earliest show was at 10:00 AM, and it indicated that it was "Almost Full."

The AMC Lincoln Square 13 is the largest IMAX theater in the United States and seats around 480 people.

The theater is located in Manhattan.
Im off that location, I go to Regal on Delancey, better experience even though smaller screens.

Difference between me and cornbread, knowing the ype of dude Smoke was, I would have had my gun on me at all times.....
Alsp speaks to how we saw them processing the logistics of their event, but women and men using a bathroom seemed to have been completely overlooked throughout.

Don't quote me but I think Cooger borrowed from World of Darkness, Vampire lore and also incorporated some mishmash things as well.

A vampire spawn or childer, is usually free of mental control of their "Sire' unless the Sire has Domination ability, which works on humans and weaker willed childer. But Domination requires verbal commands and the target to be able to see and hear the speaker.

A childer who drinks from their Sire or another vampire 3 different times is Blood Bound, an overwhelming blood created love and commitment to serve. In this case, the bonded vampire is instinctly linked to bonder and does everything to protect bonder without hesitation or commands necessary.

No lore of vampirism has a Sire able to know what the spawn/childer knows or thinks at all. Sire can feel emotions from childer but thats it.

Moving bodies of water are often a deterrent or problematic to vampies, unless moved through or across such water is done within container with homeland dirt.

Some vampire clans have a power called Fortitude which at high levels allow elder vampires to soak sun damage for extended periods of time.

The Sire in Sinner is very much depicted as an elder vampire from the very beginning of him running in the sun for considerable distance and time. Also in the end, being in moving river\stream and in full sunlight and on fire and staked. Sunlight is supposed to do aggravated damage to a vampire.

Also what was largely overlooked or intentionally ignored is this, staking a vampire doesn't kill them, it renders them incapable of moving or using any supernatural ability or speaking, thus allowing them to be killed in whatever manner after.

Just adding for insight.

Just curious, does Ryan Coogler and Michael K Williams have any connection at all? The guy who got cut in the face with the razor at the dice game has a cut very similar to what Michael k Williams had on his face. I was wondering if Ryan Coogler did that to pay homage in some way

^^^

KA FUKING BOOM

This aint NEW - Not by ANY means.

In fact remember Stallone was crying about not getting a deal like this for Rocky and was hating on those black men so much he didn't thank him at his golden globe win.

OTHER creatives have gotten this deal

No I aint saying its EASY or COMMON but thy acting like its some super rare occurrence and somehow like Coogler aint DESERVE IT.

Vampire sh*t

they want US to give them ALL our gifts for the privilege of being allowed to exist.

F8ck that.

Another thing must be stated. I saw the movie with two friends who hadn't seen it yet today and I noticed Delroy Lindo's hair. No, I haven't seen dilroy Lindo with hair in a while and every interview he's bald so props to whoever put the hair wig on that man and someone needs to hip Tyler Perry to how you put a hair wig on a black man. That shit look like real hair
