great story, poor execution

The Avatar Sequels Finally Have the Dramatic Titles They Deserve
By Hunter Harris@hunteryharris

More Avatar! Photo: Twentieth Century Fox

Our long national nightmare is over. More news about the only sequel more hotly anticipated than Call Me by Your Name 2has arrived: the Avatar sequels. The BBC has “seen documentation” confirming the titles for the four (yes — four!) Avatar follow-ups. Are you ready for Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: The Seed Bearer, Avatar: The Tulkun Rider, and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa? Well get ready, because they’re coming!

Last week Avatar star Sigourney Weaver confirmed that they’ve finished shooting the second (The Way of the Water) and third (The Seed Bearer) installments. “I’m not interested in developing anything. I’m in the Avatar business. Period. That’s it. I’m making Avatar 2, Avatar 3, maybe Avatar 4, and I’m not going to produce other people’s movies for them,” James Cameron once told the New York Times. Prepare to be watching Avatar movies almost every Christmas for the rest of your life: they’re due December 2020, December 2021, December 2024, and December 2025.

Man I personally think Cameron waited too long, by the time these shits drop 12 years will have gone by, will anyone still care?:dunno: He probably held back to dodge Disney's "Star Wars" and "Marvel" onslaught but who really knows?

Since Disney is thisclose to making the merger with Fox official we could be seeing crossovers of some sort

One of the best movies I have ever watched

Always been into samurai movies since I learnt
That was where George Lucas got his ideas from
Watched them all throne of blood, seven samurai

But this wil always be one of the best

Simple
No side effects
Black and white but yet amazing story telling

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY

The legendary British rock band Queen, finally hits the big screen after having 2 directors....original star walking away from the film......script changes.....

PRAISE :Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury/Farrokh Bulsara, lead vocalist of the rock band Queen really did his homework here.He is able to nail down the mannerisms and moves of Mercury and even striking a couple of emotional chords in me with his performance. He will likely receive a few award nominations for his performance.
As his bandmates and friends Gwilym Lee as Brian May, Queen lead guitarist,Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor, Queen drummer Joseph Mazzello as John Deacon, Queen bass guitarist also capabley channel them and their movements.
The musical performances are also on point for the most part.
I have read articles and watched documentaries about Queen over the years and the film nails most of the things about them, especially Mercury's relationship with Mary Austin(Lucy Boynton)
I know some critics and movie goers are upset that the film doesnt go dark enough and we dont get to the behind the closed door of Mercury's personal life at full throttle but it's a PG-13 film and IMO i feel enough about his homosexual life style ,flamboyance and his dealing with the discovery he had AIDS was displayed in the film.

PROBLEMS: Some of Mercury's dealings and chafing against his band members is kind of sugar coated and glossed over. There are some alterations to Queens history in the screenplay i didnt like.
There were projects that Mercury really dedicated himself to that were not in the film that i would have liked to have seen.I would have liked to have seen more of that than drawn out scenes of him dealing with a shady lover.
Some of the lip-syncing was a bit off.

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY is not a perfect biopic but with everything that went on behind the scenes IMO it's a coherent, rousing and moving film for the most part.

Saw Equalizer 2 and Finding Big Country over the weekend. Enjoyed both ... have always liked the Equalizer & John Wick realm/genre from Washington & Reeves respectively. Finding Big Country is a short-form doc' ... just under 45 mins ... released earlier this fall. Added the link below (and trailer) as it's available in full on Youtube ...

Also watched After Porn Ends 3 and The Shape of Water earlier this month. The former to see some updates on Priya Rai, Tera Patrick and Bonnie Rotten ... and the other one to see what all the hype was about last year.

Saw Equalizer 2 on BGOL DVD earlier in the week. Enjoyed it. For the MMA heads ... keep an eye out for some of the bad guy cameos. There's one in the first scene, one in the hotel elevator & suite, and one in the backseat of the car when Denzel's driving.

Saw A Star is Born on the big screen this past Tuesday. Good performances from the co-leads. Interesting to see the contrast between one's career rise, and the other's substance abuse concerns and their collective ups/downs in the music biz.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) returns to track down the woman he has fallen for ina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston) and to be commisioned by Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) to find Credence Barebone (Ezra Miller), before dark wizard Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) can get his hands on him.

PRAISE : So much better this time around !! The silliness and long drawn out moments to just show off SFX are kept to a minimum. It's well acted by the entire cast which includes : Claudia Kim, Carmen Ejogo, Zoe Kravitz, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, and Callum Turner.
Director David Yates keeps things moving steadily for the most part.
The inclusion of some characters give the film a boost.I actually felt something for the characters. Some strong emotional moments and multiple romances brought strength to the story, actually making the film intriguing.
I found the climax to be very involving and action packed. Some really amazing and stunning SFX and a great score by James Newton Howard.

PROBLEMS :I was about to pull out a notepad or hoped there was an App i could use to keep up with the numerous story threads. If you dont pay close attention especially to the flashbacks you will be confused.
Depp was good but i felt he wasnt given enough time to shine, and was only able to display his skills fully at the films climax. There are a couple of dull moments. Some characters are sidelined.

Im far more invested and im actually looking forward to the next 3(?)chapters in this tale

WIDOWS

After their husbands are killed during a heist the widows of the men are cornered into trying to pulloff a heist themselves.

PRAISE:The acting in this film is off the charts great. The cast does a great job which includes :
Viola Davis, Daniel Kaluuya, Brian Tyree Henry, Robert Duvall, Colin Farrell, Cynthia Erivo, Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Rodriguez, Liam Neeson.
Their perfomances are laces with intensity, intimidation and raw emotion.
Scenes crackle with devestating dialogue.
The opening action sequence hit me like a lightning bolt.I liked how the film displayed how the women were novices to anything criminal and had to find their rhythm together and individually.
I loved how Director/writer Steve McQueen and writer Gillian Flynn didnt make it easy for the widows.

PROBLEMS: A major plot twist was extremely predictable. The film meanders here and there and i kept saying wow i wish they would pick up the pace here.It was odd how some scenes were shot but maybe the director was trying to show off or it was anod to something i couldnt recall
Theres a big plot hole i couldnt make peace with long after i left the theatre.

Widows is a good film but not the great one i hoped it would be and may be a bit over hyped.

The Girl In The Spiders Web

I liked the Dragon Tattoo so i thought this would be decent. Stay away. I have seen some bad movies in my lifetime but this is the first movie I watched and said this is dumb. The women were unattractive so nothing to hold my attention.

The only thing good about the movie was Lakeith Stanfield. All of his scenes were watchable. The rest garbage.

Overlord

I actually liked it but I knew I was checking out a B movie so I was expecting silly and fun. The black man was the main character in the film and they transitioned him well from why am I on this plane to hero(yes he saves a white woman. Its France what do you expect). The opening plane sequence was cool. Some of the movie played out like a video game. Guess most were expecting Wolfenstein from the trailer. The effects were good from the experiments they were doing.

Shocked to see some 60year olds and a couple of women in there by themselves. I think they thought they were watching a Hitler movie.

Main downside was that there was not enough "zombies" in action. And they tried to be serious. But that's my issue cause I was expecting silliness like Dog Soldiers.

I saw this movie yesterday. And this shit was good.

I also saw this yesterday. Shit was hilarious. The broken English, bad acting, nudity, and the so called fight scenes kept me entertained. This movie was definitely made on a shoe string budget.

The actor who plays the uncle, mofo was the worst actor in this movie. Dude barley showed any emotion in any the of serious scenes.

this on netflix?

check out “jailbait” on netflix...contrary to the title it’s not what you think @ all...very similar to the movie you posted

A Star is Born. Came for the singing, stayed for the body. Gaga was slinging nice ass and oh those titties. Sexy meter was off the charts.

Agreed. Saw it on the big screen last week. Like how they contrasted their career trajectories. Saw Gaga perform live back in late-2009. Free tix. Aunt works at some of the downtown concert venues. Good live performer. On for nearly 2 hours. Did 18-20 songs. 10 back-up dancers. Lazer lightshow. Lots of quick costume changes. Actually sang and wasn’t lip-synch phoning it in. Kid Cudi and others were the opening acts.
