Thought I would share this with the fam. I was turning gray early and was hating it but over the past couple of months I have turned it around.

I got the clippers out yesterday then checked myself in the mirror and was like WTF ???????

A lot of my scattered gray has gone and some has been replaced by dark patches.

Two things I did to do this.

1) Stopped drinking sodas - full of caffeine and other shit that fucks up your body.

2) Take two teaspoons of blackstrap molasses every day - not regular molasses, it has to be blackstrap. This stuff is the fucking biz! Costs like $1 something from a big store or health food store and is full of good stuff. Google gray hair and blackstrap if you want further proof.

Blackstrap is full of good stuff like calcium, iron and copper which produces melanin in the body. Great for the skin and nails and loads of other stuff.

It takes a while but stick at it - it works !!!!!

Another 12 testaments here.

That shit taste like tar and dogshit with a hint of syrup. Not easy on the tastebuds at all. I remember doing a fast and using blackstrap tonics for a week straight. Not a very enjoyable time. You're right about the benefits though. Its good stuff.

Congrats on your turn around. How long were you on it before noticing change?

maybe you were just under a lot of stress and that caused your hair to turn grey..

don't underestimate what stress can do to the human body..
it can cause a lot of health problems..

you got to take it easy no matter how bad the situation is...

Oh. Well everyone isnt cool or doesnt look cool with premature graying.
I agree. How old is the OP anyways. Me, I started noticing a few grays when I was 25 or 26. It doesn't really bother me though. I have had plenty of women compliment me on it. My girl loves it and it actually doesn't look bad on my head.

I was born with gray hairs but they didn't really start running rampant til my late 20s & I'm 31 now. I rock a baldie now but my goatee has the salt & pepper effect going. I don't mind it much though & refuse to use any of those hair dyes either.

I read about the taste. I took my first spoon of it and laughed - I love it.

I like the liquorice/burnt sugar kind of taste but I know a lot don't like it. Some tastes stong, other makes don't taste of that much.

Noticed a change after say 2 months.

I'm sounding like I own a sugar plantation now but my fingernails have changed as well, they are now perfect and shine like when your woman has had a manicure.

I'm 23 and my hair is noticeably gray, it'll probably be fully gray by the time I'm 30.

I've always had a few strands as a child, but once I hit my teens it got worse. At least I'm not bald though. :dunno:

I'm only 28 and got gray hairs in my beard, mostly due to the stress of law school. Now that is out the picture, the gray hairs been turning black naturally, so stress must play a contributing factor in graying.

na im not gray yet.. i read what boy said about being 31 w/ grays... and im jst thinkin like damn im not even that far from 31.. gray hair sucks man
Genetics, stress, diet, are all factors. You can go gray next week or not until you're 70. Its basically when your follicles either become clogged, die off or stop producing melanin (correct me if im wrong guys, going off memory). Blackstrap assist in the latter areas of melanin production, which is why it is said to help some cases of graying (along with other health benefits).

Good for you man. Also good you enjoy the taste. :smh:

Blackstrap molasses is rich in zinc. It's well known that zinc (in some cases) can turn gray hair back to its original color.

The zinc in the molasses is what turned your hair color back my friend. As for me, I would have to take that molasses for eight months to work on me,

My entire head is salt and pepper (with the salt dominant). It's all good though. I don't mind the gray. I've been gray since I was a kid (not to my present degree of course).

I actually got some of that blackstrap molasses from Sprouts Farmers' Market.

I hope it'll work for me, I found out about this from earthclinic.com, too.

You going grey?

What you young ninjas eating??

You its got to be hereditary, I'm going grey and I'm 27. My mom was full gray by 35, and so was my Grandma. My sister is in her thirties and she's graying. My younger brother was born with a patch of gray hair.

Yup. Cant beat genetics. Give that shit a try if you dont like the look. Some chicks dig it though (not that chicks will determine your next move).

I thought I read somewhere grey is also caused from peroxide that naturally build up in the hair and skin:dunno: Some company was comin out wit a shampoo that removes the buildup...

Started getting greys at 16.

Shit went bannanas in my mid-20's.

Now I'm basically salt and pepper all over and my temples fully white.

I think the worst part about going grey is that the hair changed texture. It went from soft and curly, to stiff and wirey.

Strangely, the hair just about everywhere else is black as the day I was born. One or two in my beard in the same spot that get pulled out and two down below :smh:

you can't avoid aging forever my friend and i would much rather a gray hair here and there than going bald.

Co-sign. I'm terrified of going bald, but the cards are stacked against me. :smh: If they come out with some shit that keeps me from going bald... I'll pay damn near whatever for it. I just don't have the head for a bald cut.:(

Fail.

The mystery of why human hair turns grey as we age has finally been solved by a team of European scientists – and wisdom has nothing to do with it.

Science Daily reports that greying hair is caused by a massive build-up of hydrogen peroxide – the chemical women have long used to dye their hair blonde – due to wear and tear of hair follicles.

The build-up of peroxide eventually blocks our normal synthesis of melanin, the natural pigment responsible for our hair, skin, and eye colour.

"Not only blondes change their hair colour with hydrogen peroxide. All of our hair cells make a tiny bit of hydrogen peroxide, but as we get older, this little bit becomes a lot. We bleach our hair pigment from within, and our hair turns gray and then white. This research, however, is an important first step to get at the root of the problem, so to speak", said Gerald Weissmann MD, Editor-in-Chief of The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology journal, to Science Daily.

The researchers discovered that the hydrogen peroxide build-up was caused from the reduction of an enzyme (catalase) that breaks apart hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen.

Hair follicles cannot repair the hydrogen peroxide damage, which is also complicated by an enzyme being disrupted that leads to melanin production in hair follicles.

"As any blue-haired lady will attest, sometimes hair dyes don't quite work as anticipated. This study is a prime example of how basic research in biology can benefit us in ways never imagined”, said Mr Weissmann.
