We always do actors, movies, etc. name your 5 top favorite movie directors:
1. SPIKE LEE - lee was the first director i saw who used the camera as a ACTOR. Who can forget any of his scenes where he would isolate the actor in the frame, make him or her stationary, and move the background. his soundtracks and just his subject matter itself. he may be passe' now, but in his prime, nobody could touch spike.....
2. HUGHES BROTHERS- from hell, dead presidents, these brothers are DEEP. most people would remember them from menace to society. that was pop corn, their version of boyz in the hood, its the movies that make you THINK that i love about them.........
3.MARTIN SCORSESE- goodfellas, casino, martin can do a mob movie........
4. MICHAEL MANN- some people may laugh at this choice, but michael mann puts a pop culture polish on movies like nobody else. hell, just based on his miami vice movies alone, he is in my top 5. people laugh at vice and the vice tv series now, but vice was THE 80'S. it defined a whole culture........
5. CLINT EASTWOOD- love his work. clint makes you think also. his movies are more real to life than most directors...........
honorable mention-
F. GARY GRAY- negotiator, friday, set if off, the man is a urban director, and i love his work.........
