When I stated this 8 years ago on this board I was told Im just jealous of fair skin white passing Steph Curry. But its the truth, Steph and Golden State SOFTENED the game and made it more Euro friendlier focusing on 3 point shooting and below the rim play. Before Steph, the best players were skilled jumping jacks that played defense. Now a dominant offensive player that doesnt play a lick of defense can be considered the best player thanks to Steph's run in 2015 and 2016. 3 point contests ARE boring, thats why I see the league is starting to focus more on skilled bigs and low post play again.
All valid points. The regular season games are starting to look more like the play of the All-Star game. Dudes treat the regular season like an extended pre-season. Back in the 90s..you could tune into NBC on a random Saturday and catch a NY vs Chi game and it would have more intensity than todays playoff games. Add in the fact these dudes are always missing games. I can't even put in a decent parlay because someone is always out. Have to check the injury report more than the NFL. SMH..

One of my good friends in my sports group text moved to Connecticut. He can't see any Knicks home games cause they are only on the MSG network unless its a national ESPN or TNT game. Remember...Conn is considered part of the tri state area. If MSG wasn't already included in my package I wouldn't be able to see any game unless I watched illegally on Streameast or any of the other sites out there.

The NFL product is ass! Ratings are not down though why?? Because it has nothing to do with the product. It’s just math…
Same with those sorry ass hornets. I got the league pass, but when the hornets play I can’t see the game. Can’t even see it on cable unless I upgrade to a particular sports package plan.

The NFL ratings don't drop for two reasons.
First NFL games are once a week so they become must see TV. If you miss a game you miss your team for a week.
Second the NFL is ALWAYS on national broadcast tv and they make sure that those games are quality games. Your local games may suck but they are also on broadcast tv where the most people can see them.
Now compare that to the NBA. You won't see an NBA game on broadcast tv until around Christmas time. If you have a basic cable package you are almost shit out of luck when it comes to seeing a game. On football Sunday no matter what you will see at least 3 games for free and all you would need is a tv and antenna.

Simple math my bro! Gambling is the main fuel behind ratings; coupled with games!! Imagine the nba only played 20 games. And games were only broadcast on Tuesday and Wednesday ; everyone would fucking watch!!! And gambling would not be as spread out for basketball as it is now! It’s a farce and they know it that’s why the nba tv contracts with their partners tripled!!! Much to do about nothing…
There is nothing must see about the NFL; it’s is awful; players can’t block or tackle anymore; most teams are average to mediocre; offensive line play is awful; qb play is awful; referees are awful!! The nfl is fueled by betting!!!!!!!! That’s it period….
I’m an 80’s baby and started watching NBA in the late 80’s early 90’s and frankly, this style of basketball is not what I like.
I get what analytics say but it has led to unappealing basketball for me…it’s literally nothing but jacking up an insane amount of 3’s and endless pick and rolls.
The complete elimination of the mid range has led to an erosion of footwork and fundamentals and neutered quality post play.
Its just not fun for me to watch teams main offense be going 19-50 from 3 every night and that be considered good offense.
