The Punisher
2019
Netflix - Season 2
13 Episodes
7/10
I started the 2nd season on the road this past week and finished at home last night on Disney+.
Like prior, I’m not gonna go into details, just the highlights.
The season starts out some months after season 1, with Frank cleared of his crimes, living under a new identity given to him by the Feds and on the road in Michigan trying to get on with his life.
He gets himself involved with a local waitress and her son and a young girl involved with some high level Russian criminals. Episode one has a barfight scene that pays homage to Patrick Swayze’s cult classic film “Roadhouse”, but gets more hardcore with the violence. Frank takes on a couple of female thugs and kills one of them. This is the first time seeing him kill a woman.
Jigsaw (Russo) debuts in episode 1 along with Agent Madani who has somewhat recovered from her wounds. Det. Mahoney returns in episode 3. Curtis returns in episode 4. Turk returns in episode 5 and Karen returns in episode 11.
Episode 5 gives insight on Jigsaw’s past as a child.
Episode 6 has a scene giving some insight on what’s going on in today’s political climate in the US and internationally. When this scene first debuted back in 2019, majority of folks probably viewed it as “Conspiracy”, it’s actually coming true.
Episode 10 we get to see John Pilgrim in action. He is on the same level as Frank in hand-to-hand combat. Frank also goes full “Punisher” in the episode.
I had forgotten that veteran actors Corbin Bernson and Annette O’Toole had small roles in season 2.
The season ended with all storylines/sub-plots closed. Agent Madani was seen working with the CIA out of country and offered Frank a job. Frank turned it down and was shown going full Punisher against criminals to end the season.
If you are gun enthusiast, a large variety of firearms are displayed in both seasons.
Overall, it was better season than the first. A little more action with Frank. The season was focused a lot on Jigsaw/John Pilgrim character development. It didn’t drag the main story down. Being everything was closed out, it’s unknown what Netflix had planned with the character. We have to wait and see what Disney+ has planned along with the other characters.
Right now I’m debating about watching “Echo”. I pretty much remember it, being it debuted last year. Daredevil has 9 episodes for season 1 with the finale to debut on April 15, 2025. I’m gonna wait until all the episodes debut and binge them back to back. I have seen reviews are high for it.
Looking forward to watching it.
