Elizabeth Olsen says 'WandaVision' is definitely not getting a season 2

"It's definitely a limited series."
By Andrea Towers

WandaVision was considered a critically acclaimed hit, but fans who want to see a second season of Wanda Maximoff's witchy adventures on Disney+ may be out of luck.

While virtually interviewing each other for Variety's Actor on Actor series, stars Kaley Cuoco and Elizabeth Olsen took turns gushing to each other about their latest projects. (The Flight Attendant and WandaVision, respectively.) When Olsen asked when Cuoco would start filming her show's second season, Cuoco returned the favor by trying to get Olsen to confirm if there would be a second season of WandaVision.
"No. No," Olsen responded immediately. "It's definitely a limited series."

"Limited series," Cuoco answered slyly, reminding Olsen that her show had said the same thing before it was renewed.

"I mean, I'm saying that," Olsen said. "I don't know. I mean, with Marvel, you can never say no. People die..."

When Cuoco shared her disappointment over losing a "major scoop for the world," Olsen maintained that she would be "shocked" if there was another season. "The thing that I did learn through Sorry For Your Loss and WandaVision is that I love doing television," the actress continued. "And I do miss, I think, the four-five week experience of making a film - it just feels so exciting and like camp for a little bit. But I think this six month experience of really hard work with the same people and it's exhausting...it just feels really good."

Marvel fans know there are no rules when it comes to the universe. But no one knows that better than Olsen, whose on-screen partner Paul Bettany, a.k.a. Vision, died at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and was brought back to the land of the living (kind of) for WandaVision. Olsen, however, has always had the mindset that WandaVision was supposed to be a "one and done" deal.

"It is a limited series. It's a fully beginning, middle, end, and that's it kind of thing," she told People back in January before the show's premiere.
Olsen will continue her Scarlet Witch journey in next year's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and where her character will go in the Marvel Universe after that is still a mystery. But according to Olsen, it probably won't be back to Westview.

Kathryn Hahn attributes success to 'complex' roles for women her age

With Knives Out 2 and Agatha: House of Harkness in the works, Hahn is celebrating this 'thrilling time for women in the streaming world.'

With projects across Disney+, Netflix, Apple TV+, and more, Kathryn Hahn credits her career boom to the "chewy and deep" roles available nowadays for women on streaming services.
"It's a thrilling time for women my age," Hahn tells EW. "There seems to be an opening for more roles for women over a certain age that are complex, messy, contradictory kind of anti-heroes."
The WandaVision actress cited roles like Olivia Colman's in Landscapers and Kate Winslet's in Mare of Easttown. It's "kismet," she said, that she "happened to walk into a time in which these parts happened to be more."
Hahn racked up her most recent streaming credit in Apple TV+'s The Shrink Next Door with her long-time co-stars, Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd.

"The last time Will and I worked together, I was kind of a newbie and looking up to them as these giants, these titans," Hahn said. "It was really fun and kind of felt full circle to be back in this very intimate project with the two of them."

Hahn isn't slowing down anytime soon. Most recently, she launched a HubSpot commercial campaign in which she portrays a variety of fictional executives. In the first iteration, she plays a pirate leading her ship, joking to EW that she had everyone on set call her "captain."
"This is my favorite kind of like Tracey Ullman dream to play different characters and to play people that kind of interrupt the status quo," Hahn said. "To be working for a company with a woman CEO that walks the walk of diversity and inclusivity is just a real dream."
Next on Hahn's plate are two hush-hush projects: Knives Out 2 and her WandaVision spinoff, Agatha: House of Harkness. In the former, she will star alongside Daniel Craig, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, and an onslaught of billboard names.

"It took me back to my roots because it really did feel like an old school ensemble," she said about filming the Netflix sequel. "It really felt a lot like my class at Yale. I had the same kind of fond feelings of love and tenderness towards everybody."
Although her upcoming Marvel series is still in development, she hinted that what she's seen so far is "exactly what I would have hoped and dreamt."
With a filmography that spans comedy, drama, action, and mystery, Hahn isn't closed off to any role or genre as long as she can keep jumping into empathetic, interesting stories.
"It's crazy to me and kind of buoying that this big chapter happened post-kids for me," Hahn said. "I subconsciously was taught that after I had kids, I'd have to drop my ambition ball, and that really didn't seem to be the case. In fact, more doors opened."

Marvel Star Says Agatha All Along Disney+ Series "Looks Like a $100 Million Movie"

Patti LuPone says the upcoming Disney+ series looks more like a movie than a television series.

By NICOLE DRUM - May 14, 2024 08:09 pm EDT

On Tuesday, Marvel Studios surprised fans by revealing the official title of its WandaVision spinoff as Agatha All Along as well as revealing the eagerly anticipated series' release date, but that wasn't the only tease in store for fans. Thanks to series star Patti LuPone, fans now have an idea of what the series. might look like as well. Speaking with Deadline, Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, and LuPone opened up about what it was like being on set for the series, with high praise for the set and costume design.

"The thing about this show which I thought was so thrilling that Jac Schaeffer who wrote it and also wrote WandaVision, it was very important to her and Mary Livanos our producer that there be as minimal CGI so there's very little that is not practical magic or just our magic so that was a very exciting something to set up that we were like able to prove again and again we could do it," Hahn said. "So, it's minimal CGI, but that was very thrilling. Sets are incredible … it just felt delicious. It was a very immersive experience."

LuPone then added that the production is very well done, so much so that the series looks more like a big budget film than a television series.

"May I say to that point, the set, the production design and the set dressers, and the lighting, the costumes, everything about it, it appeared to all of us when we saw it when we came to set that everybody on the creative end were at the top of their game," LuPone said. "I was telling somebody about the Witches Road how absolutely beautiful, we burst into tears when we got on the set and we saw the actual Witches Road. It's gorgeous to look at on top of being a fantastic story. It looks like a $100 million movie."

What is the Witches' Road?

While we still don't specifically know what to expect with Agatha All Along, LuPone's mention of the Witches' Road is of some interest for Marvel fans. In comics, the Witches" Road is, essentially, a special plane of existence where only magic users can go. It's not something we've seen in the MCU as of yet, though fans think we may have already seen a glimpse of it thanks to a preview teaser of Agatha All Along that was released with the WandaVision 4K steelbook last year.

Who Stars in Agatha All Along?

In addition to Hahn, LuPone, and Locke, Agatha All Along will include WandaVision alums Deborah Jo Rupp as Sharon Davis and Emma Caulfield Ford as Sarah Proctor. New cast members include Aubrey Plaza, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, and Sasheer Zamata. The nine-episode series is directed by head writer Jac Schaeffer as well as Gandja Monteiro and is set for a two-episode premiere on Wednesday, September 18th on Disney+.
