This is really stupid and the person at MTA who authorized this study should be fired - the psychology of the fare invader is that they want a free ride - this has always been the case - in the past you had Transit cops around the turnstiles to keep people honest - now 99% of the time there is no one there so people ust walk through and on the buses its even worse - before the bus drivers would say something or not drive the bus but their union said to them - its not your job so they say nothing -

Where do I send my million dollar invoice to MTA for giving them the answer

But there ARE people there now. Those guys in the orange vests and all the major stops still have cops and military

And during school time a LOT more cops walking around.

I don't want those guys harassing kids and the poor.

I don't know the answer but just not paying isn't going to work

You are right about cops at certain stations at certain times but the vast majority of stations are still pretty open and i have seen fare invaders just ignore the orannge vest folks -

The MTA is running into serious deficits because of it - so that is why they are rolling out Congestion Pricing to raise money for the MTA because they know people are not going to pay more money for subway fares

They not rolling out congestion prices cause of deficits they rolling it out cause they’re greedy… even if every person started paying they was gonna attempt to do it anyway.. the fact they about to get away with it is some bullshit.. how you gonna seperate the borough.. they should’ve called it economic segregation.. separating the rich from the poor.. if you threw that slur on it it would put a negative light on the Mta.. don’t call it congestion prices ..”economic segregation “ the upgraded gentrification.. mta would have hate that tagline
