Tim Duncan doesn't have a DPOY but Marcus Smart, JJJ, and Marc Gasol do. They clearly were better defenders. See how dumb I sound? Fans put all their stock into media opinions and awards cuz they are too lazy to learn and watch the game. That's why production is more important IMO than awards.

He is going to have to suspend Draymond for a few games, but the bigger issue is this is the last go around with this core for Golden State they have to break this up next year. I like Golden State but I’m noticing they are a step slower in defense now.

Bron finished 2nd. Giving him DPOY would've given him a higher peak than Michael Jordan awards wise. The fans and media wouldn't've accepted that, so it was best to give it to the white boy. Duncan deserved it earlier in his career IMO when he played bigger minutes.

LeBron has finished top 5 in DPOY voting 5 times. There's only a handful of guys whove done that, Ben Wallace, Dwight, etc. all known as top notch defenders. Skip Bayless put the narrative out there that LeBron doesn't play defense so stans project dudes who never were in the running for DPOYs as better defenders and pretend he's a cone out there now.
