}~~~> Official 2024/2025 NBA Thread<~~~{ the playoffs are here!!!

Westbrook was only getting those minutes cuz Jamal can’t stay healthy. Jamal ain’t played since I don’t know when. People forgetting about that. Westbrook was brought here to be a bench player but due to Jamal missing a lot of time, Russ had to step up. And he did. I believe the Nuggets record is 15 games above .500 when he starts and for a minute the Nuggets looked better with him starting than Jamal.

So this recency bias bullshit gotta stop.
Russ has been a loser every where he’s went. What recency bias?

As I said earlier every situation isn't the same. If it was Lebron, he has a history of getting coaches fired so the media would definitely slaughter and blame him.

Jokic doesn't have that history, that personality that we know of so he's isn't thought of in that way. So he's getting a pass or it just isn't thought about.

And what if Jokic did get him fired? Now what?

Jokic is a multiple time MVP and he might've felt that it was time for him to go? Maybe Mike lost his touch with the players and and he needed to go?

Memphis coach got fired, the media didn't jump on Ja saying that he was a coach killer. It was said that the players didn't like the system that was being run so they were unified in wanting him gone.

Yes the media treats and reports on Black and white athletes differently, but every situation isn't the same and it isn't always a Black vs white issue.

My brother? It's always a black and white issue

but see what you did there?

If joker did do it? That's fine

If he didn't do it? That's fine too

That's exactly the point. So he gets the benefit of the doubt completely no matter what he does because he got awards and rings?

So why don't other players who have or had the same been given this license?

* I got nothing personal against joker I actually like him and his personality. And he should be in the decision making process if he so chooses. But the fan base and media giving him a pass and not other similar players don't sit right with me.

I gave you the exact same scenario, Ja Morant and the Grizzlies coach getting fired during the season.

Was Ja called a coach killer or was he given the benefit of the doubt?

Ja has no rings and murders people with gun fingers and imaginary grenades. It'd be easy to blame him for the coach getting fired.

So since it's always a Black and white issue, was Ja's Black ass blamed for the coach getting fired or was he given the benefit of the doubt?

Did Ja get the coach fired or was the organization looking to move in a different direction and looking for a new leader?

That didn't sit well with him, and he voiced his frustrations publicly and privately, sources said. As the Grizzlies spiraled, losing six of eight after the All-Star break, pressure mounted to the point where one Western Conference general manager believed, until the firings, that the team would be forced to shop Morant this summer.

We can do that if you want and look at every individual coach firing in the history of the nba.

But it's not going to disprove my overall point.

I'm not blaming Joker. I'm observing the media (and nba fandom) and how it's been failing.

I'm curious to see how and if this "new media" the players are clamoring for will really make a difference.

especially as more and more white and European players become faces of the league.

Will they be scrutinized and held to the same standard as other players?

I wonder if Luka complaining to the refs in the finals costing the Lakers a championship will be casually brushed off like it was when he still played for the Mavericks?

I don't want to look at every individual coach's firing because it's not needed. We only need to look at the last two.

You stated that it's "Always" a Black and white issue and I don't believe it is. You stated that you believe that the media's giving Jokic the benefit of the doubt because he's white.

I simply asked did the media do the same for Ja or did the media instantly blame and label Ja as a coach killer and treated him differently in the same scenario because he's Black?

Ja Morant's blackness comes into play with the media but his immaturity makes it complicated for me. They had this same debate recently on Gil's Arena..

I don't wanna derail this thread like that. my bad. This is a separate discussion. But I understand your point. and I appreciate you seeing where I am coming from.

We will reconvene at another time.

This isn't derailing the thread, it's talking about a bout basketball players and the perception of the players when their coach is fired.

Ja's Blackness definitely comes into play, but much of it is based on his gunplay off the court and bringing it on the court.

That's the thing it becomes a bigger cultural discussion on blackness overall and perception and image and and culture and identity and victimhood and media and expectations and responsibility and role models and business / sponsorships.

Then it goes so much OFF the court I don't know if we ARE talking just about basketball anymore.

Because we gotta be REAL if you winning? No one gives a sh*t about all that.

If Kaepernick won a super bowl I always believed all that kneeling stuff wouldn't have been as much as an issue.

And if THAT I still isn't REALLY true because in 2025 media we have found a way to minimize and deflate even WINNING.

If a player "gets" a coach fired and the team ends up winning? Does that player REALLY get the "credit"?

Again I don't know if this is a NBA game thread topic.

I just hope Jokic’s usage comes down and they play a complete team game like they did last night. That’s all I care to see, win or lose.

the very different takes from current players former players beat writers, tv talking heads insiders podcasts and print is very interesting.

I may have been incorrect

Russ has been a loser every where he’s went. What recency bias?

That's funny cuz he's actually been in the playoffs damn near every year EXCEPT for the year he happened to play with.....Lebron James:oops:

What a coincidence.

He still had the Thunder in the playoffs even after Durant left. If we're only counting "winning" as winning a title than a lot of mf's have been losing then.

Again, what the FUCK do you y'all be talking about? Seriously. Y'all just like to fit in with the other dumbass people to downplay the guy. He's been a fucking beast since he entered the league. Shame on him for not maintaining it for 17 years:rolleyes: Go check his fucking resume.

This why I can't talk basketball with everybody. You and that idiot Major deserve each other
