That shit was boring and dumb as fuck having him in Cleveland and we all had to fake act like we cared about cleveland.

Make it happen. The Best with the Best

Say bruh, aye man...... fuck you!

Mfkrs keep taking shots at Cleveland like we don't know who/ what we are. We are a mid/ small market (read as a city with under 2 mil homes) team with large market ambitions like most of the teams in the league. Yes, I said most. There are 30 teams in the league.... maybe a dozen are truly large markets.

Lebron was from the area, we lucked up fam. Yeah we know it. One of the greatest players in league history, the pinnacle of a generation and "face of the league" for damn near 2 decades, (mfkrs been trying to make so many other players the FoL without success).... was from NE Ohio and wanted to play here, wanted to win a ring here and he cemented a legacy, here. Not many players get to do that in respect to their "home teams."

Hate the game, not the city fam.

And as always, keep it player. Congratulate, never hate.

I’m hating the history of the team. Not the city.

All the best players get out of small to go big or always go big

Bird Boston

Magic LA

MJ Chi

Kareem LA

Lebron LA

All the absolute greats play in a big market.

Forcing a great player to have to play in Cleveland isn’t the best for business.

Bird didn’t go to the Pacers and Magic didn’t go to pistons.

Sports aside, Cleveland has contributed a lot to black culture and that’s not something I would expect out from any city in Ohio. So Cleveland, the city, will always have my respect.

You think LeBron was FORCED to play in Cleveland those first 7 seasons?!

The kid that had a $90 mil Nike deal, a deal with Sprite and Upper Deck all before his Cavs draft pick.....
A rookie deal is only 4 seasons, he signed an extension....

Quiet as kept, LeBron and Dan Gilbert made that pick happen, which reportedly is partially why Gilbert paid the luxury tax so many years with lebron. He overpaid for veteran and over the hill players.... but the league as a whole benefitted from the LeBron / hometown kid story. And even more so during the redemption years that culminated in a ring.

Can you name 10 other players that have done so much for their hometown and hometown team as a player? Those Lebron seasons boosted the local economy by tens of millions of dollars each year......that shit was wild.

And the team as it stands today is slightly thanks to Lebron winning a ring, but also just playing here twice...... that showed Spida and many others, Cleveland isn't so bad and the fans will show up for you.

With the Mavs victory over the Bulls, they are 37-38. The 11 seed Suns are 1.5 games behind the Mavs and 1 game behind the Kings.

Amazing. I don’t think anyone thought they could even make the play-in after AD went down.

The other big game today was the Lakers victory over Memphis:

Need the Cavs to beat the Clippers tomorrow and the Warriors to take care of business against the Spurs.

This conversation is so nuanced and most people don't take the time to add the context to it.

Most "great" players of today, on paper would seem to be on a better/higher level than players of the 70's/80's/90's. However, the league of old was BRUTAL back then. Mfkrs would literally get clotheslined driving to the paint and that was a "common" foul.

So when people say, "if so and so played back then...." are we talking about that player within the rules of back then or the game in regards to that player and the rules of today? Because there were numerous "enforcers" from back then that would ensure that certain players wouldn't ball out, unlike the game of today. Kareem and Wilt didn't score 50+ points on Oakley and if he played against them, he'd make sure that they didn't......

Now if you just say that Kobe, Lebron, Steph Giannis, KD.....Etc have more skills than some great player from the 70's/80's/90's..... then yes, most people would agree. There weren't 3s and 4s that could shoot 35%+ from 3 (when there was a 3 pt line created in the u0-80 season), crash the boards, post up and conversely run end to end or handle the ball like a guard. The league was so different in each of those periods.

This is why HWIC won't make a fake Memphis Grizzlies fan alt. And I never see BGOLers boosting Ja. He's too much of a nigga. BGOL likes white boys like Michael Jordan and Kobe.

We need video footage of 70's players to back the old heads' claims. Words ain't enough. I'm a Wilt fan so ive collected footage from that era. Giannis would be the best big in the league back then. I need to see footage of guys playing better. It doesn't exist. Nobody in football tries to argue Lamar Jackson or Myles Garrett couldn't play in the 70s. Michael Jordan's shoe brand's need to sell shoes 30 years after his retirement is the only reason people (online only) argue evolution don't exist in basketball. But that's cool cuz eventually pretty much all the old school players will be deemed OVERRATED soon.

I don’t have a dog in this fight but “Shameless Grifter Alexander” is my MVP for 2024-25 season nicknames.

So he disagrees with what the NBA counts as an assist and now he’s unimpressed by the numbers? Ok. Nobody plays defense nowadays so should we be unimpressed by Shai’s points per game? Assists get counted the same way for every player so why isn’t every primary ball handler putting up the same assist numbers? Every elite offensive player gets away with foul baiting so why isn’t every team’s main scorer putting up Shai’s numbers?

Respect both players for what they do. Has Jokic been credited with assists that shouldn’t have counted? Absolutely! Has Shai been given a favorable whistle for flopping like a fish? Absolutely! Is Jokic an Elite passer? Definitely. Is Shai an Elite Scorer? Yep.

Shai is my MVP because I respect 2-way players more than any other type of player in the league. And to have a double digit lead in the conference is crazy. Shai deserves it more imo.

It was a waste of time

Shoulda sent him to NYC or LA soon as he hit the league

Cleveland doesn’t draw dollars

Wilbon is from the old guard of journalists that had some integrity and didn't rely on the sensationalism and hot takes. They were credible beat writers with cushy newspaper jobs and were well paid by the networks because of it. Unfortunately, ESPN and the networks have fazed them all out for much cheaper less credible on air talent, so this sentiment is rare. But it speaks to his character.
