DISTURBING DETAILS EMERGE FROM DWAYNE HASKINS’ TURBULENT TIME IN WASHINGTON
December 29, 2020

Dwayne Haskins was waived by Washington this week after he violated COVID-19 protocols, got his captain tag stripped, and then played poorly enough to get benched yet again this season.

On the surface, that seems like enough to get rid of him, but there were more things we weren’t privy to until now.

Les Carpenter of the Washington Post published a story on Tuesday that highlighted many of the issues Haskins had during his two seasons with the Washington Football Team.

Per the Washington Post:

“Mostly, though, his Washington tenure was filled with odd incidents such as missing the final snap of his first NFL victory because he was taking selfies with fans, or the photos that emerged last week of him partying maskless, a violation of league coronavirus protocols. There were loads of complaints by frustrated coaches on two staffs who were stunned by his constant late arrivals to meetings, failure to master the playbook and refusal to prepare for games as diligently as NFL quarterbacks must. Several around the organization questioned his ability to lead and repeatedly said poor throws in practice would carry over into games.
What annoyed members of both (former Washington coach Jay) Gruden’s and Rivera’s staffs, people familiar with their thinking say, is that Haskins was not rude or indifferent. They never described a player who was arrogant, despite such suggestions outside team headquarters. Instead, they seemed confused as to why he wouldn’t do the things most quarterbacks do instinctively — arrive early to the team facility, sit for hours in meetings and study opponents deep into the night. He had a sharp mind and grasped plays quickly but had trouble applying them in games. Some of the coaches blamed this on a lack of preparation.”
What makes the entire situation frustrating that it was owner Dan Snyder who was reportedly the major factor in the team taking Haskins, overruling Bruce Allen in part because of Dwayne Haskins, a Maryland native, being a local star.

As we see now, it backfired terribly.

anybody that follows the team closely is already aware of this stuff. As for Dan snyder, that bastard once wanted to move up to draft former Texans QB David Carr, so fuck him.

watch Wentz go to Indy to re-unite with Frank Reich. My squad stays on that bs...our front is gonna be a problem for years to come. if they EVER get the QB right they will be onto something. McLaurin and Gibson have emerged as legit threats.

Yeah I'd probably say y'all are a QB and another playmaker away from being dominant on offense. Easier said then done....if y'all miss out on the playoffs...could have a nice QB prospect.

Seattle Seahawks waive veteran DT Damon 'Snacks' Harrison

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Seahawks have waived veteran defensive tackle Damon "Snacks" Harrison at his request.
The team announced the move Monday, one day after Harrison was a healthy scratch for Seattle's NFC West-clinching win over the Los Angeles Rams.
"He's decided to stop playing," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Monday on 710 ESPN Seattle. "He's done playing. I talked to him this morning. He's in good spirits and all of that. He's really grateful for the opportunity in playing here, and he did really well by us, but he just ... he's done."

Done with the Seahawks, at least. Harrison tweeted Monday that "the plan" is to play for another team this year if he "can work out the logistics of it," although he added that he's not interested in being claimed off waivers.
Harrison indicated on Twitter that his decision was related to his role in Seattle, although his tweets and Carroll's comments suggest an amicable parting.

In one tweet, Harrison thanked the Seahawks and his teammates, writing that he wishes it didn't have to end but that "it's time for both of us to move on." In another, he wrote that he didn't want to take snaps away from a young player "who deserves to be out there." He also requested that media members ask him any questions about his situation as opposed to players and coaches, who "have to remain focused."
"What's next for me? I'm not sure," Harrison tweeted. "I have to make sure my family is good before I do anything. They are my 1st priority. I'd like to keep playing but with Covid and other logistics it's tough to just pack up and immediately leave. I'll keep y'all posted!"

Harrison is subject to waivers. The move leaves the Seahawks with an open roster spot.

"So I don't know what'll happen with any other club, but I know he's got a big family, he's got a bunch of kids, seven kids, to corral and take care of and it's a very trying time and challenging," Carroll told the radio station. "He's going to try to just get them back home and get them safe. He was awesome to have around. We loved him and sorry to see him go, but we've got to keep going."

The Seahawks signed Harrison, 32, to their practice squad Oct. 7 after he decided to play in 2020. He didn't make his Seattle debut until Nov. 15 against the Rams. The 6-foot-5, 350-pound player had to work himself back into football shape and then had to wait for an opening in Seattle's defensive tackle rotation, which he got when Bryan Mone injured an ankle.

Harrison, a first-team All-Pro in 2016, was credited with nine tackles and a forced fumble in six games with Seattle. He averaged 23 defensive snaps per game, according to Pro Football Reference, while playing behind starters Jarran Reed and Poona Ford.

The Seahawks activated Mone off injured reserve Saturday. He played 26 defensive snaps against the Rams. Before the game, Harrison wished Mone and several other teammates good luck against the Rams via Twitter.

Harrison's contract with Seattle included a $1.05 million base salary. That prorated to roughly $370,588 over six games.

:eek2::eek2::eek2: He's coming to the Packers. And so the drama continues to unfold. This just might be interesting.

I'm surprised he hasn't called his own plays the past 5 years.
Tomlin should let Ben do it. Fuck Randy. But Mike tried to give Randy the benefit of the doubt cause they are close friends. Fuck dat friendship shit. Let Ben call his own game in the playoffs and in the offseason fire Randy Fichtner cause he's as useless as tits on a bull and promote Matt Canada to offensive coordinator.

there are no 'new' details. it's just the team trying to smear a brotha's name as usual. they do that every time they part ways with someone.
I hate when this info comes out to the public. This man will be up for a job interview one day and he will have to answer to questions that may not be coming from his supervisor or boss, but someone looking in. The stripper COVID issue is known nothing he can do about that. But thats what references are for call my position coach and ask questions.

Didn't know the Madden 99 club got gifts

Neither did I. I was watching a press conference earlier that a CHI reporter asked Rodgers about this and his Charles Woodson comparison of greatness.
I wasn't sure of what they were talking about. I haven't played a game in ages since my sons grew up and got out on their own.
