Quarterbacks should protect themselves. The whole sliding shit isn't really fair for defenders who are playing full speed and expected to stop the moment a QB decides to slide. Shit ain't right. If you force a QB to take a non slid hit, it will avoid possible injury to both defenders and QBs.

Then again, I'm a proponent of them bringing back leather helmets to deter players from leading head first which has caused many a player to get injured.

They have to protect their BIGGEST investment

Its a Quarterback driven and lead league.

You CANNOT risk that.

But Do think DEFENSE is an important AND entertaining aspect of the game that at many points the league was trying to legislate out.
