Why the hell are they fighting on a Sunday

Mayweather stated that he's starting a new trend for the boxing community. He further mentioned that if we can have Super Bowl Sundays, Emmy's on a Sunday, why can't I create a trend to have a major boxing event held on a Sunday? I mean this brother is a Genius. Turning Sundays into the new Saturdays.

Fights being primarily on Saturdays is still fairly new.
Back in the 70s, 80s, and early 90s, most big fights were on Monday's, Friday's and sometimes Sunday.
Tyson-Douglas aired live on Sunday night in 1990 since the fight was held Monday morning in Japan.
There's nothing genius about what Floyd said.

Never said it never happened. I'm essentially noting that in this contemporary day, it isn't common. Can you imagine IF his promotion team starts holding fights all or majority of their fights on Sundays instead of Saturdays? This will also change the behavior of all sporting networks involved.
