Crawford doesn't want this shit. I am a huge Crawford fan. But he does have a little advantage coming in at 157 lbs at fight night when he is at 140.

Will his power carry and can he take a punch? Cause I got Thurman, Spence and even Kell beating him.

This division is crazy. Love him or hate him, but when Amir Khan is the 6th best in the division, that's a damn good division.

The fighter that comes out of this division undisputed, should be the #1 P4P

He can eat off these foreign fighter and unify titles..but here's the problem. There are forces out there trying to stop that.

This is why nobody truly respects these alphabet belts... Fuck them, the Ring belt is all that matters to boxing purist. All these alphabets do anyway is just take sanctioning fees from these fighters...

Kovalev's Trainer Jackson Tried To Jump Ship To Andre Ward's Team?

In less than three weeks, one of the most anticipated fights of the year will take place when Andre Ward (31-0, 15 KOs) steps in the ring with Sergey Kovalev (30-1, 26 KOs) for a second time.

Their HBO Pay-Per-View fight takes place on June 17th, from the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The first fight, which took place last November at T-Mobile Arena, saw Ward survive an early knockdown to win a very close twelve round unanimous decision to capture Kovalev's IBF, WBA, WBO light heavyweight titles.

There was a lot of controversy over the scoring and the outcome. All three judges scored it 114-113 for Ward.

There was an immediate rematch clause, which Kovalev exercised to force the second pay-per-view showdown.

A few weeks ago, there were industry rumblings of potential issues between Kovalev and head trainer John David Jackson.

The most shocking of the rumblings was a claim that Jackson was considering the possibility of jumping ship to work with Ward. BoxingScene.com reached out to Ward's manager, James Prince, and the champion's legal adviser, Josh Dubin - who both confirmed that conversations were indeed held with Jackson regarding the possibility of working with Ward.

Both Prince and Dubin are very friendly with Jackson, because all three of them have a business relationship with heavyweight Bryant Jennings. But both were shocked when Jackson reached out to discuss the idea of coming on board.

According to Prince and Dubin, these discussions took place when Roc Nation and Main Events were working hard to finalize the rematch.

"It wasn't out of blue as so much as we speak from time to time because he trains Bryant Jennings. As it relates to this subject, it was certainly out of the blue. He had previously told me about issues that he was having with them. I don't think that was a big secret. Then he came out and straight up said that he wanted to join our team and in fact he named his price," Dubin told BoxingScene.com.

"There were several phone calls. We weighed it out and strongly considered it. This was something that was discussed over several weeks. It was something that we weighed out, something that he weighed out. But people don't call to leave their team because they feel appreciated and things are going good. They call to leave because things are not going good. I think John knows us well enough to know that when you're with us we treat you right and we respect the skills that you bring in."

Prince indicates that while they seriously considered the possibility of hiring Jackson, they ultimately passed to avoid a post-fight situation where Jackson's hire would overshadow the efforts of Ward and trainer Virgil Hunter. He feels Jackson is being marginalized in his current camp, with Kovalev recently bringing in a Russian conditioning coach.

"The thing is, Kovalev don't really listen to his man in the corner. The fact of the matter is, Jackson would love to be in the corner with the Americans. He wants to be where he's respected. We would show him more respect in our camp," Prince told BoxingScene.com.

"The paint is on the wall. You see the same things that we see. Kovalev is a Russian that wants to be surrounded by his Russian people. Jackson can't even talk in the corner. Imagine being a man who is training you and giving you all of this direction and then when the TV screen comes on, they want to insinuate like somebody else is in charge and gets the credit, so I sympathize with Jackson and his negotiations and his decision on when he wanted to jump camp to be in a stronger position, with the Americans.

"We didn't want Jackson to cause Virgil and Andre and the rest of the team not getting credit [in the rematch]. We thought about it strongly, that's why we were conversating with him because we felt that he could be somewhat of an asset. But at the end of the day it was an asset that we really didn't need. Let him stay over there with the Russians. The American wanted to be in the American corner.

"Then the Russian reached over and grabbed more Russians to be in his corner. At the end of the day, you'll see who is doing the talking, although they may call the man a conditioner or all of these different labels that they are giving him. They will keep Jackson looking as good as they want him to look because they don't want to show that bias to the public."

And of course, Kovalev has been under fire, more than once, over controversial posts on social media that some felt were racial in nature.

"That dude is showing Jackson who he is. Character is what you show when nobody is looking, when the TV is off, when the camera is not rolling. He's showing Jackson who he really is. And I don't think Jackson likes it at all from what I'm told," Prince said. - See more at: Kovalev's Trainer Jackson Tried To Jump Ship To Andre Ward's Team? - Boxing News

Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti and Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn met on Wednesday in New York to begin discussions about a summer unification fight between junior welterweight world champion Terence Crawford, who is with Top Rank, and Julius Indongo, whom Hearn will co-promote for his next bout. When Crawford (31-0, 22 KOs) knocked out Felix Diaz to retain his two titles on May 20 at Madison Square Garden in New York, Indongo was ringside to get a good look at his possible future opponent and Crawford also called him out after the fight. Indongo (22-0, 11 KOs) unified the other two major belts in the division by lopsided unanimous decision on April 15 on Ricky Burns' home turf in Scotland. If a deal is finalized, Crawford-Indongo likely would take place in August in the United States.

Adrien Broner, Mikey Garcia set to face off at 140 pounds this summer
The July 29 bout will serve as the centerpiece for Showtime's summer lineup

An already red-hot 2017 for boxing saw the temperature rise even higher Thursday with the announcement of a summer showdown at junior welterweight.

Former four-division champion Adrien Broner will face off against lightweight titleholder Mikey Garcia in a star-studded Showtime Championship Boxing main event. The 12-round bout, presented by Premier Boxing Champions, doesn't yet have an official home, although the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, has been cited as the frontrunner.

The 140-pound bout comes at a critical point in the career of both fighters.

The polarizing Broner (33-2, 24 KOs) has routinely made headlines. The native of Cincinnati has twice done brief stints in jail over the past year and teased at taking his own life last October in a string of disturbing social media posts. But despite numerous second chances that have gone awry, Broner is still just 27 and hasn't yet to capture his full potential.

Meanwhile, Garcia (36-0, 30 KOs) returned spectacularly in 2016 from a two-plus year exile while undergoing promotional issues. At 29, he has come back focused on becoming one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the sport and very much looked the part in January when he destroyed lightweight titlist Dejan Zlaticanin to capture his third title in as many divisions.

Garcia will be move up to 140 pounds for the first time, a weight Broner has had issues at times making. In April 2016, Broner forfeited his junior welterweight title on the scales, one day before stopping Ashley Theophane.

The fight also figures to be a strong centerpiece in an already loaded spring and summer schedule for Showtime. The card will be the network's 19th live event over the first seven months of the year.

"Showtime Sports continues to deliver the most anticipated matchups, the most important events and the most thrilling fights in boxing," said Showtime Executive Vice President and General Manager Stephen Espinoza. "We consistently feature top-rated champions and challengers. The best are fighting the best and the results have been spectacular.

"Adrien Broner vs. Mikey Garcia is a fight that fight fans have dreamed of -- an undefeated, young star facing one of the best 140-pound fighters in the sport, both men in the prime of their respective careers. July 29 promises to be a memorable night in a year already full of memorable boxing events."

The fight presents interesting challenges for both competitors, provided Broner comes in focused and prepared. When he's dialed in, Broner is a tough out for any elite junior welterweight due to his slick counterpunching and durability.

It will be just as interesting to find out how well Garcia's power carries with him up to yet another weight class. Garcia will enter with the edge in terms of pure boxing. At 5-foot-6, he's the same height as Broner, giving up just one inch in reach.

Despite his troubles outside the ring, Broner has remained a huge draw on television. His most recent bout, a split-decision victory over Adrian Granados in February, remains Showtime's most-watched telecast of 2017.

Interesting...AB loses or looks bad when he gives up the physicality to another fighter (may have very well lost his last fight)...he should have the physical advantage over Garcia...skill wise is where it gets interesting...Garcia may very well be more skilled...certainly more disciplined...can Broner summon the discipline necessary to beat Garcia?...some really good fights being made man....maybe the casual fans can't see it...but boxing fans are experiencing some great stuff in our sport

Broner ain't disciplined enough to make weight or match Garcia's skill, he will be in the fight because he is tough.

The author could have saved all that text and summed everything up with just a simple, "I'd like to thank Al Haymon".

Broner's BS moniker (AB = About Billions).

There's supposed to be a fight day weight clause.

Adrian Broner has no movement. Mikey is gonna box his ass off. However, this will set up Bud vs Garcia, which will be epic.

Those fucks at the IBF are trying to ruin this fight by stripping Indongo of the title if he doesn't fight his mandatory. They were the ones that said unification matches are more important than regular title defenses.

Never watched Mikey fight, I see his record... but is he really that good?

Mikey is very good. Bob Arum tried to stall out his career before he got out of that bullshit contract.

Don't know about that. Mikey said he's going back to 135 for awhile after this.

Also Mikey insinuated that there will be a penalty if Broner is overweight.
