But...
It actually misrepresents the show.

I have no idea why saying Black twice like that just sounds way to amateur.
The material is way more smart, layered and complex.
It needed the same.
Again the other shows themes are basic, but the producers decided to make music a big part of the show, they set that bar
So they can't go basic on the one song we gonna hear first thing every week.
WB/DC got the money to get Run the Jewels to craft a classic.

the theme song for black lightning is trash. and so is the production quality of the song.
something else that is trash about this show is the score. it is horrible. shit sounds like soap opera music. i like BL but the theme song and the score really hurts it. along with the over acting from gambi. i am not sure if its the direction or its him. but he is so miscast it hurts.
also, the quad suffers from a horrible intro theme as well. just cut the intro themes for these two shows. they are like 10 seconds and add nothing to either show.
i watched BL this weekend followed by grown-ish. it was amazing to see the production value difference between the shows. grown-ish has a real theme with excellent production quality as well as engrossing scores that don't take you out of the mood of the show. again with excellent production values.
keep in mind i am watching/listening to these shows on a more than above average home theater.
it appears to me that the music budget took a back seat the special effects budget for this show.
the writing on this show is the only thing keeping me around honestly. (oh and the carpet munching sister too.)
