Gonna be a solid card.

- Cormier wins ... he's 2-0 over Miocic.

- Miocic wins ... it's 1-1 ... and they'll probably have a trilogy fight.

- Diaz returning after 3 years away

- Pettis is always in exciting fights (win or lose)

- Romero (42yo) vs. Costa (28yo) ... both powerful ... how does Costa deal with Romero's vet' experience?

- Yusuff is someone to watch for ... good buzz the past year or two ...

- Brunson vs. Heinisch is a fun action fight to lead off the main card

- Devonte Smith's always fun to watch

- Raphael Assunção vs. Cory Sandhagen ... Raph's a divisional gatekeeper & Sandhagen's still building his name

Stipe is really good at pushing his White privilege.

You would think that he actually won the first fight the way he has been acting like a prima donna coming into this fight.

Hoping to see a good battle with Cormier & Miocic. Also looking forward to some bonus money being earned in Diaz/Pettis and/or Romero/Costa with Fight of the Night and Performance bonuses!
I got cormier but hope it's a good one. Actually I don't care if he knocks Stipe out quick again. Good for my blood pressure lol.

I had Pettis before but something is making me swing back to Diaz. Now I'm stuck.

I want Joel to win but I hear Costa is a beast. I'm sure I've seen him fight before but I don't remember.

dont you think that the man with the most defenses to the heavyweight strap deserved a rematch over Brock lesner(a certified steroid cheat who hasn’t fought in years due to a lengthy suspension) or Derrick Lewis? I know that’s the narrative DC(who I’m a huge fan of) is painting, but I hardly see stipe as A prima Donna. Either way looking forward to this fight

should be a great night if fighting, I’d be shocked if the main event ends quickly again but at that weight anything can happen. Rooting for the champ of course! Nate vs Pettis should be insane, If pettis sets up early leg kicks than it can be a long night for Nate. But it’s a pick em if you ask me.

costa is a beast and gigantic for the weight but so far fairly untested, big step up in comp for him but if he can do to Romero what he’s been doing to the scrubs then he’s gonna be a problem at MW.

Definitely a sore loser. It took him 25 mins to defeat Ngannou, whereas Cormier KO'd him (Miocic) in under 5 minutes. Whereas with Ngannou ... after coming off his losses to Miocic & Lewis ... he proceeded to KO and TKO Blaydes, Velasquez & JDS in just over 2 minutes collectively. Incredible.

When Miocic lost to Cormier last July ... Lesnar came into the Octagon and immediately cut that promo with the champ. Miocic was over on the side knowing his immediate rematch might be flying out the window to the real money fight that would garner way more attention & PPV buys. He's definitely lucky to sit out and wait for a rematch. I hope Cormier TKOs or subs him.

Agreed re: Pettis and Diaz. One of the best things for Diaz having the long break is plenty of time to recover, whereas Pettis has been in plenty of tough fights the past 3 years - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Pettis#Mixed_martial_arts_record - should be a great battle.

Costa is very physical. Gonna be fun to watch Romero (lots of veteran savvy) counter him, and see how they match up.

Looks like they're both coming in lighter and in better shape too this time around. 236.5 & 230.5 at heavyweight. Should bode well for both of their cardio/endurance.

What other combat sport do you know of do you get to get KO'ed and then come back demanding first-class treatment?

I'm surprised Miocic doesn't ask to come in second on the ring walk.

Fighters are usually a bit more humble after they get KTFO'd

DC looked great at the weigh ins. Prob the best shape I’ve ever seen him at heavyweight. Hoping it’s a repeat of the first fight but you can’t sleep on the one punch man like power of stipe

Boxing lol Anthony Joshua got koed and was making demands about location and everything lol but I feel you tho. He did kinda act like he didn’t he starched in a round lol regardless here we are, let’s just hope dc shits him up for good lol either way stipe is more than likely the next heavyweight champ. If dc wins he prob rides of into the sunset or dies a third fight with Jon a lhw, and who in heavyweight right now is beating stipe? Wouldn’t mind to see the Francis rematch for the vacant title

Agreed. I'm wondering if he's trying to bring his weight down for the potential 3rd fight with Jones (at 205lbs like the first two fights). Sounds like Jones doesn't want to grant him a 3rd fight (up at HW) and Cormier still knows their trilogy is the true money fight. If Jones stays at 205lbs and doesn't move up ... he might have to move down. I was talking to my brother about that ... and as everyone knows it would be devastating for Cormier if he lost a 3rd fight with Jones (as he would be down 3-0 in their series). Whereas IF he pulled off the upset ... it would be 2-1 Jones, and Jones would probably be granted an immediate rematch. I could see Cormier saying fuck that, and retiring on a win and getting payback in the process.

Weighing in at 236.5 is much more in reach than former weigh-ins closer to 250. Still wish he didn't have to cut so much weight to get down to 205 though (as Jones only cuts from 220 - 230 range, many say).

if dc wins against jones I see him retiring since one fight technically doesn’t count so he’s really down 1-0 and would prob be fine with retiring 1-1 vs jones as the only man to truly beat who many consider the goat and as double champ. Can’t beat that resume lol would love to see that happen btw.

Agreed. Got big respect for Cormier's career. The Olympic level wrestling pedigree. LHW and HW championships. The Strikeforce tourney win. Desk and commentary work. High school wrestling coaching.

Stipe is using all of the excuses in the world right now to justify the notion that the last fight should be neglected. You know how I know? Cause I invented that shit back in the 90's when I was in middle school:

I got in a fight with a dude named Roderick and lost... But when people asked me about the fight, I was able to come up with all these excuses and make it look like it was some kind of conspiracy:

  • It was picture day, but Roderick was wearing sneakers. Why was he wearing sneakers when all the rest of us were wearing church shoes? Church shoes have no traction, so Roderick knew that he would have an advantage when he fought me.
  • Roderick waited until I started taking my backpack off and then swung on me when my backpack was halfway off, knowing that I couldn't swing back immediately. That is a hoe move. He should've waited until I had both arms free.
  • Roderick waited until sixth period to fight me and intentionally stood with his back to the window. He knew that the sun shines directly into the window in Mr. Hari's classroom and that it would be right in my eyes if he swung on me while standing in that exact location.

The truth of the matter was that Roderick was significantly bigger, stronger, and faster than me. And at that time I had zero training in hand-to-hand combat. I would've lost every fight against Roderick no matter what. However, I was able to spin that shit and make it look like it was really a close fight and could've gone either way if not for this or that tiny variable.... None of which was true.... And kids legit believed my ass.

Game recognize game, so that's why I'm not buying any of Stipe's bullshit. He is going to end up tits-up the exact same way he did last time. Don't let him bullshit you otherwise.
