Oh, I was watching Sout Train too, although that was more my big brother's thing. If I had to miss it to go out and play kickball at 11am, it wouldn't ruin my weekend, lol. Missing Bugs Bunny and Shazam... that shit had a lil brotha depressed.

i knew some of the reasons.

in the 90's i noticed when cartoons switched to news, sports and animal shows. i DID NOT KNOW the government was the reason for it.

its just like when 60's cartoons had folks whoopin the shit out of each other, but when the 70's hit that shit was sanitized like it was dipped in bleach.

that shit was due to government meddling as well.

As a 70s baby Saturday mornings were the shiznit.

$$ Wise I thought they(meaning the networks) caked off of toy and cereal commercials but I guess I was wrong.
I was born in '71 and cartoons was a huge part of my growing up. That and kung fu theater, wcw wrestling and a local Saturday afternoon horror show called shock theater with Dr. Creep.

Its amazing how they can screw things up.. Wouldnt it be nice if the people got the chance to pick what they want to view?? Correct me if Im wrong, but isnt that called freedom??

With hundreds of million's of viewer's how can you possibly satisfy everyone. Its impossible to satisfy everyone.

I was just talking to my boy about Street frogs today, even though that came on in the afternoons after school, Saturday morning cartoons were the shit from 6 a.m. Until 1. Born in 1977, it was the perfect time to be born. Everything got fucked up if you weren't born at least by 85

If networks were smart they should bring Old school Saturday cartoons back once a year. Complete with old school commercials and all. Ratings would go through the roof. We'd all sit and watch with our kids as well.

I noticed some Youtube channels doing that now..

I remember weekends on MTV and VH1 were good back then too, sometimes you'd want to stay home

Loved this show on VH1..would sneak a wine cooler or two out the fridge then sit back in my room and dim the lights

When most homes only had one TV it made sense to schedule a black of programming for housewives (Day time soaps) a block for the husbands (sports and news) a block for kids (saturday morning cartoons) and family shows for the evening. Now that everyone has their own device it makes more sense to target one specific family member 24/7.

That's also the reason why TV shows have become more explicit.
