Pass/Fail: Skip Bayless has 'no sympathy' for Dak Prescott after Dallas quarterback opens up about depression

Generally i would side with Skip on this issue. Just hard for me to relate with this era of men talking about they depressed.. And to source Covid and a 3 month fucking fake ass quarantine as a reason is ho shit. But Dak, my be different. He may have some legit clinical depression issues. I know he lost his mom young, and his brother killed himself this year. His issues seem more serious and may even run in the family. Wish the guy the best (despite his past coonery).

I had it bad after moms died for years. He not only lost his moms but bro to :smh: I respectfully disagree with you bra, I think that's our problem as black men not accepting that we are human and that we sometimes need help. We are raised that showing emotions are that of a pussy and I don't agree with that shit. I think that's why a lotta people end up loosing it because they keep all that shit bottled up. But that's just me bro.

Sometimes,I look at Bomani funny while he's right in most cases he does make you raise an eyebrow like "what the fuck" is he doing.

He's a contrarian on most topics.

Skip prefaced what he said, and said he coming from an older place. Coming from 70’s 80’s football culture and it was coming from point where Dak said the pandemic made him depressed.

Dak depression was because of covid and not because of the death of any family member. This is the same dude who was holding workouts and partying when everyone was to be in the house.

I understand. Which is why I tried to acknowledge the realities of those suffering. But I'm also older and find it hard to relate or sympathize with those who trivialize it and allow themselves to be consumed by it. Especially those blessed with resources and opportunities the majority doesn't have. People are dying and starving... I don't wanna hear a capable grown man talking about he depressed and couldn't function because he couldn't party or hang out without social distancing for two weeks. He sounds fucking delusional and ridiculous.

I believe there are instances we need to embrace brothers and help them thru shit. But I also believe there are instances we need to tell brothers to man the fuck up and stop being a bitch ass nigga.

Yeah, I’m not sure why Bo trying to be empathic with Skip.
It kinda seems he's keying in on Skip being closeted and not knowing how to deal with it so he just keeps up the facade with his sister....I mean girlfriend Ernest....I mean Ernestine. Cuz there is nothing and I mean NOTHING straight about this

I understand bro, but after all the death I've experienced, the Pandemic and fucking Racism sometimes I feel like shits not worth it.

We really should be able to Express to family when we have struggles. My Dad kept shit pent up an had a couple of strokes. When I went to see him at the hospital he was talking about a problem rental unit that had him stressed. He kept that shit bottled up and let the pressure literally bust a "pipe" in his brain.

Mental health is a big issue in our community and so many are willing to pray to white Jesus for people that really need help medically.

All this outrage over a dude who said he was depressed over a pandemic to which he didn't even adhere to local laws? Still throwing parties and holding workouts. Foh, if you depressed because you couldn't be you for 3months turn your issues are deeper than depression.

In the interview he talks about losing his mother who was his best friend......

I just can't sit here and tell a dude he should be alright because he got millions. We know what this football shit does to these guys. His depression may have been triggered by the pandemic(not even sure that's what he was saying) but that dude might've always had it. Seems like him and his brothers had it in some form of fashion when their mom passed.

You're not getting interviewed for national publications constantly either
It's easy to keep business to yourself when people aren't literally fishing for it.

Wouldn't matter bra, Still wouldn't put all my shit on SM. That's just how I am, money wouldn't change that. I'm a pretty private person. I do however feel there's a difference when you are a celeb and are going through something and want others to know ur human. Example Michelle Obama admitting she has suffered from depression. You can mention something personal without a daily diary of your life. My 2 cents.

Dak admits to having mental disability when his job requires mental toughness. I know it’s not politically correct, but why shouldn’t Skip criticize him?

If he doesn’t have the ability to do the job, maybe he shouldn’t do it anymore

It's not the money its the thirst to know your business that lets people slip up.

You do realize some shit is hereditary, right?

Skip should be suspended for this shit. I really am surprised has not met this dude in the parking lot and kicked his ass.

Did he apologize?

I can't believe Shannon allowed that shit

The key word to this is trigger. When I first deployed to Iraq, my base was hit with mortars about 3 a day for 4 months. It became normal and eventhough a few tents down some fellow members were killed. I powered on and continued as it was nothing cause we had a mission to do. The scariest nights were when we didn't get hit and only heard the planes engine all night. But when I got back to my home station my first few weeks if you slammed a door I was hitting the floor. I was in the mall and someone dropped something and I dropped down. Friend of mine was like you need to go talk to someone but I couldn't cause you know that stigma of losing a top secret clearance over mental illness.

After 4 deployments being in locations I shouldn't of been cause my people didn't know what they were doing. I still powered through, trained as much as i could and continued business. And 9 years later after my last deployment, 5 years after I retired, I was talking with a friend. She asked me a question about one of my deployments and after I finished answering I just broke down. A situation I never told anyone about and I had to just get off the phone with her. I pictured every suicide and death that went down near me, reports of soldiers crossing the border(we were a mile from the border), helicopter flights over deserts with possible portable air missiles to shoot us down. Escorted to my base behind a truck with 6 dudes with their AK-47 pointed at us. Do you know how it is to wake up in the morning to go shower and use the bathroom on your 3rd day at a location. But the building is off limits cause a 19 year old kid took his 9mm and killed himself. Then the next day an Army soldier kills himself next door to us.

You cant tell someone when or why they should be depressed. Most people don't even understand why they are depressed just a trigger that kicks in and they can't control it.

Just like women with post partum depression. You cant tell her after the 3rd baby that she should be use to this be strong. She may of been depressed during the first two and fought through it. But now its hitting her, and hitting her badly.
