The thing is that working people (most people) got the idea in their heads that the government can actually work for us even if it is doing their bare minimum. The extended unemployment, virtual work, not commuting, free healthcare, student loan payments paused, etc...the cat was let out the bag. I've definitely said this as well. In order for it to be taken seriously, it has to kill more acutely and faster than what it's doing now. And the news and tv doesn't even cover the deaths and suffering the current situation is. It gives people a feeling that "there's nothing to fear" and "It won't happen to me or my family". People need to ask themselves which one of their family members are they willing to sacrifice just so they can have that BBQ and show off their crib?
