LAS VEGAS (AP) — One of the last living witnesses to the 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur has been arrested in the Las Vegas-area, a long-awaited breakthrough in a case that has frustrated investigators and fascinated the public ever since the hip-hop icon was gunned down on the Las Vegas Strip 27 years ago.

Duane “Keffe D” Davis was taken into custody early Friday morning, on suspicion of murder, according to two officials with first-hand knowledge of the arrest. They were not authorized to speak publicly ahead of an expected indictment later Friday.

It wasn’t immediately clear from court records if Davis has an attorney who can comment on his behalf. Davis hasn’t responded to multiple phone and text messages from The Associated Press seeking comment or an interview in the more than two months since police raided his wife’s home July 17 in nearby Henderson. Documents said police were looking for items “concerning the murder of Tupac Shakur.”

Police reported collecting multiple computers, a cellphone and hard drive, a Vibe magazine that featured Shakur, several .40-caliber bullets, two “tubs containing photographs” and a copy of Davis’ 2019 tell-all memoir, “Compton Street Legend.”

I don't know if he was the shooter but even if he wasn't the shooter he placed himself in the car during one of those interviews, IDK what the proof or prosecution has that's new but if he gets found guilty of murder that will be the most ghetto self snitch in history and still a shame :smh: cops and shooter fails..RIP Tupac

How Keefe D end up here? I know he snitched on his nephew to get out of a situation but that initial snitching doesnt seem to be the reason he ended up here

Not possible.

For one even though he has stated Diddy said he wanted to kill them he's also since said at times in interviews that he wasn't sure if Diddy was just taking shit or not.

Second, by his and all other accounts, the reason Pac was murdered that night was putting his hands on Orlando Anderson and him wanting revenge for it. Even if they were going to try and hit Suge/Pac they had no plans to that weekend.

Keefe also stated that he only called Diddy after that to try to collect even though that wasn't the reason.

At best they could try to prosecute Puff for solicitation of murder (which would be a weak case) but there's no way to connect him to the murder based off of Keefe D's account/confession.

Yeah, always seemed to make sense that Pac died for putting his hands on a killer...standard street shit....only thing different was the status of the victim

Saw Keefe talking about this shit all the time but figured he must have known what he was doing...clout is a motherfucker
