I think the Democratic Party and the nation are beginning a leftward turn. I’m a moderate Democrat but I’m older with a defined pension, a 401k and good benefits. If I was a young person, I would definitely be on the far left, damn near socialist. I can’t believe the world we have left them. 100k in student debt for a job with no pension That really doesn’t require a degree.

i believe that what all the protesting is about. They’re yelling black lives matter, it’s because they’re finally understanding how white supremacy affects them too. White people are learning the reason why we can’t be like Canada or Germany or Denmark is because of racism.

The problem is there isn't enough of a presents of younge voters and elected officials. Eventually those younger voters grow more conservative. So there is no time to turn the dem party to the far left.
Starting a new party of far left individuals is the only chance for the far left.

She's still a freshman house rep. If she is able to stick around for 2 or 3 terms and still isn't getting on any choice committees, then it may be something to be concerned about...but a freshman rep in her second year who has gone at the speaker a bit.....nothing surprising just yet. If she sticks around, Nancy and the other house members with actual power will have to put her into a big time committee.

Anybody doing that will have to understand from jump that they have to take the long view. Like, they have to know that maybe by 2028 or further out, they may be able to make big moves....and that from now until then, it'll be trump, ad then pence in the white house passing laws and getting federal judges confirmed that will dismantle most of the shit they like.
I'm not saying that as a scare tactic, just saying that a left wing party would leech votes from the Democrats while it's growing big enough to finally have a chance to win Senate seats or the WH. it may be worth it. Look at what the Republicans have done over the past 50 years. All that moral majority/silent majority shit and the courts...but it will be extremely painful for a decade or so.

I"m not sure how many are going to turn conservative. In the past, we were pretty much guaranteed that we would do better than our parents, that's not the case anymore. That was the stereotype in the past, liberal when youre young and don't own anything, conservative when you're older and paying higher taxes. Problem is we left them in such bad shape. Many won't be able to take advantage of the home owners tax credits because they can't afford a home because of student loans and health care.

They sort of did with justice democrats it was decided this was easier than a completely new party.
That doesn't make any sense. So they sort of started a new party but they didn't.:confused:
If they are still a part of the Democratic Party, then they did not start their own party, but just faction of party filled with multiple factions.
They need to step out and be brave and actually start their own party from the ground up.

It does make sense lol you just don't agree with it which is fine. The way our system is set up a third party cannot gain any power nationally.

If they are not a new party, then they did not start a new party. Like I said they just created a new faction in a party, already filled with multiple factions.
So while they'll have their ideas, other factions will still have their ideas, and they will still have to play by the larger democratic party rules.
If people like Bernie Sanders and Cortez are populous. Then they should be able to over time win local elections and make it possible for a third party to gain power nationally. It won't be easy but if they want change. Then they'll have to put in the work.

It's just a natural progression as one gets older and experience life. So the once young and wild person starts turning int

The next four years going to be interesting. Judging by Biden's 40-year track record, Joe going to Joe(at least there is hope we can demand something from him, but I'm not counting on it). Will AOC sit by and be quiet? Will she let Pelosi check her? Or will she be on Joe's ass and fight?

If Joe going to be Joe, AOC could make her career as THAT person for the progressive left against establishment/centrist. Biden will have Pelosi and MSM, but AOC could have social media and the loud, loud, loud ass voices of the far left. Turn all that fury they had for Trump against the establishment/centrists.

2021 going to be fun either way. AOC could be the one to split a party that's barely held together now.
