To me, his security detail was tailing him not assisting him.
Remember when Ghost returned to the club, he told him " he didn't forget and he'd talk to him and finish that conversation later"
Why would he say that if he drove him to the spot and took him back to the club? They would've had plenty of time to rap about the problem.

On 2nd thought, I think your right and that actually makes more sense in that his security was letting ghost know that he needs to be more upfront about any threat and they got his back but this was Ghost eliminating a threat to Tommy. Also, it would be out of character for Ghost to invite his private security on a counter hit lol
