They already low-key cast Justin Guarini as Prince in them Dr. Pepper "Lil' Sweet" commercials. He'd probably get the role--or Zoe Saldana. 
I hope to get a chance to see them too. No telling what else he has in that vault. They could piece together a movie just off the concert tapes and other footage he has stored over the years.

I was thinking the same thing. I'd rather see an unknown who can shine in the role. When you have a well known celebrity 9/10 you see them and not the character, or the focus becomes comparing their celebrity persona or how well they can shed it to take on someone else. I was in shock how many Prince look alikes I saw at the concert I attended years ago.
Ya'll already know they gonna get the gay son on Empire to do it...watch.
