PSP2 codename NGP is official

Sony formally revealed the heavily-rumored PSP2 in Japan today.

The device has been codenamed NGP for "next generation portable." It is set for release by the end of 2011. Pricing information was not provided.


NGP will use a new game medium, a small flash memory based card, dedicated for NGP software titles. The cards will store full game titles and add-on game content or save data. Sony notes that they'll be able to provide higher capacity cards in the future to allow developers to sore more game data.

was not interested until I saw ARM 4-core, did not know that. this is now next-gen ladies and gentlemen
4-core+802.11n+bluetooth2.1+GPS+camera..If the pricing is crazy I'm going to wait a year or longer
wish the screen had been 6" instead of 5 but the price gone be ridiculous out the gate anyway (anyone remember ps3 launch price fail)

Was skeptical till I saw uncharted portable.

Those are close to ps3 graphics.

I still play my current psp but I will be getting this.

ehh, not interested. i think after god of war, the psp fell off

so now they expect people to carry this around along with their phones and media players (i dont use my phone to play mp3's or vids)

so the gpu is quad-core too. psp2 is a beast with eight legs.
how will they will price this any lower than $379-$399.
and thats being generous which we already know, Sony is not.
prediction: games announced @$49. kids everywhere cry out in terror
