R.I.P Ms. Lena Horne

We all owe her so much. Truly a Queen, a Legend and Sister who who fought for our people.

Much Love Lena!

I first heard about her via Sanford and Son. An amazing Woman. RIP.

"I don't have to be an imitation of a white woman that Hollywood sort of hoped I'd become," Horne once said. "I'm me, and I'm like nobody else."

Aside from being fine as hell in her day, Lena Horne paved the way for any Black person making money in Hollywood. Real Talk!

Props to the NYT for doing a great and accurate job with reporting the news.

:lol::lol:..The first thing I thought about was this episode!

RIP Lena Horne!

I remember first watching her in Cabin in the Sky knowing I would have ended up in hell if I was dude in the flick...

How is that sad? I was 9 years old when I watched this episode. And Sanford & Son always referred to the great Lena Horn. What is sad is for those who know NOTHING about her period.

You should have known about her before you knew about Sanford & Son, even at 9. What's sadder is there were likely black teens and even grown-ups who first learned about her through those shows, and many more these days who never did know anything about her (until now).

Ask folks today about Pearl Bailey, Ethel Waters or even Dorothy Dandridge.

BEAUTIFUL, CLASSY & GREAT SINGER!! SHE WILL BE MISSED!!

THANK YOU, LENA HORNE!!

REST IN PEACE.
