RIP I liked them even more in the 60's & 70's..the more Jazz/Funk era pre JT
BUT..The JT times were also damn good solid gold.

Yeah.
The band really came back when Deodato took over production chores.
He gave them many of their big hits.
Especially when bringing JT onboard for lead vocals.

Man.
I wish I had seen them a few years ago when they opened for Van Halen at MSG.
I ran into this White dude who had a VH shirt from that tour.
He told me when older VH fans realized who was the opener,
That audience went crazy on everything KATG played.

They from my city(Jersey City) ... RIP to that brother....

I only knew about their R&B when I was younger had their albums in my house and it use to play all the time. On bottom of back of at least two albums that I had at my moms house it mentions Jersey City so I use to like always appreciate a hometown representer.

So I never realize they were a Jazz band before so it wasn't until like mid 90's that I realized Fresh Prince Summertime was sample from their more Jazz based tune Summer Madness and that has always been tight... I still like letting the extended version rock out....

RIP. Kool and the Gang came to the Ohio State Fair one year. Me and my sister went. The entire group was really nice, they came out back behind the stage and spoke with everyone and signed autographs. I remember one girl trying to come on to one of the members. He told her he was married. She and her friend said they would take care of his wife. I was just a kid so I was shocked. I don't recall which member she was talking to.
