They control his image just like MLK. He is a softer gentler Nelson. Plus he didn't come out of prison and say drive the swallows into the ocean. Think about how can anyone give F.W De Klerk the Nobel peace prize along with Mandela when one is the Jailed and the other is the other is the Jailer. De Klerk was one of the most evil crakkka's on earth. In truth Mandela struck a deal to get out of prison. No way in hell you go from prison to president in racist South Africa. Still a true leader in every way ORIGINALLY POSTED BY Diomedes3000

I did not know that about the Nobel peace prize. Button I have a documentary on Mandela. And he was out for a pretty good while before they announced they were going to release him. That was because he was in such poor condition at first. So it was all to make themselves look more human. And they had been warned by America that the race riot that was about to take place might run off into America and other countries. The Bishop Tutu had said they were losing to many blacks every day. And had to make a choice of weather to die on their knees or die on their feet trying to fight back. And they were planning a full scale riot. And the fact that they were not to keep cameras out of the country any more, and the fighting being shown on CNN and other places would cause blacks and whites to react here and in other countries. They needed Mandela. And letting him out and giving the people hope stopped the riot. I would not be surprised if they did not finally kill him themselves after they were finished with him. Of course he was an old man. But sometimes when they are finished with you, they do terminate you. And that is possible.

What did he die of? And how sick was he before he died?

jwilliam85 I got to look thru my closet and find it. I have had it for years. And it even got film work showing Mandela walking past people with signs that say free Mandela and they did not realize that he just walked past them. But on the documentary they said they were letting him get used to what it felt like to go into a store again and other things dealing with society before they would announce his release. So when the public saw his released it was there for show. He had already been out before that. Some time tonight or soon I will look thru my closet for the documentary.

The movie doesn't depict him in a good light at all, womanizer and self-centered it seems, also it shows her prison stays were far more brutal than his when you would have thought the opposite.

cinematography and accents were terrible btw, not casting either Mandela with a native speaker was bad choice to me.

Danny Glover version 20+ years back was far better movie to me personally.

My thoughts

1. The real hero of South Africa is Oliver Tambo not Mandela.

2. There should never have been a Truth and Reconciliation committee instead a Nuremberg style trials.

1. I talked to members of the ANC when they were in exile in the 1980s. These
people were very high in the organisation. I asked them point blank what would
happen of Mandela were released. They point blank told me that OR (as they
called Oliver Thambo) would be the head of the ANC. They pointed out that Oliver
Thambo made Nelson Mandela with his campaign of "Free Nelson Mandela and
other prisoners". He made his best friend Nelson Mandela the poster boy of the
anti-apartheid struggle.

Issues resolved themselves when OR suffered a huge stroke and had to cede
leadership to Alfred Nzo who ceded it to Mandela when he came out of jail...

But remember that philosophically, OR may not have been too different from Nelson.
These were old timers more in the mode Kaunda than in that of a firebrand.....

2. Well... It may have been a practical consideration on the part of the ANC to
avert any western anger....But I agree that someone should been held to account
for the Soweto massacre...etc, etc,

I remember watching him as a kid at Yankee stadium and feeling like this is what it must have been like for my farther to see Malcolm and Martin.... I wonder who will be this generation great black leader.. R.I.P.

Re: Nelson Mandela is dead

Eeer... No Zulu in Rohlilala.... All Xhosa in him..

yes I have been corrected in an earlier thread. He is from Xhosa. Son to a chief, that Chief was son to a Thembu King. I thought Mandela had been Zulu, i was wrong.

RIP Xhosa Prince.

They calling him President Mandela, he was more than that, he was of Royal stock. He should be held up as an example of how all Monarch's should be. He felt the suffering of the people, suffered and empathised with them.

A Colossal soul !

Just had some white fuck on my FB newsfeed post this:

The Real Mandela

“There is nothing sacred or inherently superior about non-violent methods of struggle.”

—Nelson Mandela

With the media gushing about the greatness of Nelson Mandela now on the day after his death, a counterpoint with the rest of the story is badly needed. Below are a few video interviews of South African missionary Peter Hammond, who tells the real truth about Mandela.
