When she was fifteen, on September 4, 1957, a Thursday, Counts-Scoggins was one of four black students enrolled at various all-white schools in the district. The harassment started when the wife of John Z. Warlick, an officer of the White Citizens Council, urged the boys to "keep her out" and at the same time, implored the girls to spit on her, saying: "Spit on her, girls, spit on her."[4] Counts-Scoggins walked by without reacting, but told the press later that many people threw rocks at her—most of which landed in front of her feet—and that students formed walls but parted ways at the last instant to allow her to walk past.
There is no doubt about it. She was 15 or 16 when this picture was taken. You can see the toll of emotional and psychological trauma this caused on her face. In that photo she looks like she could easily be twice her actual age. What I don't understand is why this community hasn't unleashed the internet on all those people. She's still alive there is a good chance many of them are as well. IMHO, they should be drug out and confronted for all this before it is too late.

I’m calling bullshit with this one. How did the women explain to slaves far away this code? Also, corn rows require having lots of hair. Typically, slaves had short damaged hair from the sun.
