Richard Sherman can live with Nick Bosa’s social media history — as long as the new 49ers defensive end lives up to his No. 2 draft pick status, that is.
In the leadup to the NFL draft, Bosa scrubbed some of his controversial social media posts from the past. Among his tweets was calling Colin Kaepernick a “clown” after the former 49ers quarterback knelt during the national anthem to protest social injustice.
But Bosa’s new teammate said his play can trump his talk.
“One thing about football is that nobody really cares what you say if you can play,” Sherman told The Sacramento Bee. “At the end of the day, I think a guy that has played with African Americans his whole life, not saying he can’t be racist, but they know how to maneuver around African Americans.”
After he was drafted, Bosa got a congratulatory tweet from President Donald Trump, telling him to “always stay true to yourself.”
The pass rusher also reportedly deleted old tweets that called Beyonce’s music “complete trash” and “Black Panther” the “worst Marvel movie.”
“When you’re at Ohio State, it’s not like Ohio State’s an all-white school. So I don’t think that’s going to ever be an issue,” Sherman said,. “I think, at the end of the day, your beliefs are your beliefs … but when you’re in the building and you’re a football player and you’re a teammate, you handle yourself accordingly. And I think he understands that.”
This ain't the first time he done said some shit like this. This is why I don't believe none of these niggas because they open their mouth when its convenient. Bring a whole racist to his team and he shutting the fuck up. I expect it from 99% of NFL players but there's a handful I thought would stay true.
