them who?? who them other than Darius Rucker and Cowboy troy (forgot him..that means with Prides death 33% of the black artists in country music died)

Why do ya'll keep bringing like nas x?

5 REASONS CACS IN COUNTRY MUSIC DO NOT RECOGNISE LIL NAS X:

1. He's black
2. He's out gay
3. He's black
4. He's black AND out gay
5. He's black

note no high level black females in country...hell no non white women PERIOD in country...notice how country white women ain't saying shit about that??

Don't misunderstand

I mentioned and them cause i don't mess with modern country like that...

But I'm sure there a few lesser known black country acts popping

But the 2 i named are most pop popular

Rucker cause of hootie and Lil nas off controversy

Charlie one of the ones who broke down doors for those to follow.. and don't forget other black musicians did country in addition to their primary genre.

But generations of black folk and white associate him with country royalty

Rucker,NasX and Cowboy Troy better do just that...

Yup

Couple more

There is a few country rap and another one who got a netflix reality show

And real talk like i said WHITE ARTISTS TOO.

Like his distinctive range and delivery didn't influence them too.

Cause trust it was primarily white folk buying those records

Charley Pride has died aged 86 after a fight with Covid-19.

The country music legend died on Saturday in Dallas following complications with coronavirus.

His best known tracks included Kiss An Angel Good Mornin’, Is Anybody Goin’ to San Antone and Mountain of Love.

Tributes for the star were flooding social media following the sad news of his death.

Among them, one read: "Sad to share the news that Charley Pride died today in Dallas due to complications from Covid-19 at age 86. Charley is country music’s first Black superstar and the first Black member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. #RIPCharleyPride."
The uncomfortable part of this is that there were many that should have been before, and so many more after, him.

A quality documentary or biopic would be great because I know this man has to have one of the most interesting, possibly frightening, stories in America.

Fuck Trump!!! Fuck Abbott!!!

I love Charley Pride. I know many of his songs by heart, and have been thinking
about him a lot this year. About 20 years ago, I turned around a corner in Addison
TX, and right there at that intersection was Charley Pride. I could not contain my joy,
and stopped my car. I got out, walked up to the man and shook his hand. I told him
that my mother loved his music. He seemed surprised, but was very nice about it...

RIP to this son of the South..

When I was young in Africa, that baritone voice and that Southern drawl
represented everything America to me..

In my younger and more militant days I used to rip Charley Pride for singing cac country and western music and performing at venues where he was practically the only black person tacitly allowed to be there. Then Ray Charles came out with his album "Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music" but refused to perform those songs at segregated music halls and I eased up on Charlie although I was still a little miffed at his seeming ok with being a token country and western "star" acceptable to whites.

Looking back I was probably unfairly critical of him because despite cacs love of his music I'm sure they didn't love him and it couldn't have been easy for him knowing how they really felt about him as a black man. In any event, I'm glad he lived a well deserved long life and may he rest in peace. :hmm:

I admit I don't know much about Mr. Pride, but I do know he's an icon and pioneer in the American music pantheon.
Thanks for the music, sir.
RIP.

Indeed, my man.
It's amazing isn't it?
Clearly Mr. Pride was a true pioneer within the ranks of not just Country music, but music in general.
He was but one voice singing in a particular genre of music in which the majority of its fandom dislike Black people.
You can literally count on your hand the number of Black Country music stars who've achieved any measurable fame or longevity.
And when you think about the many similarities Rap/Hip hop & Country music share, it's a shame that a brother like Charley Pride didn't find greater fame and fortune in life. :dunno:

My old man used to play a lot of Country and Western and Charley Pride was regular on the Stereo.
The man just performed at the CMA's and now he has gone.

RIP

If you want to get a little more info on the origins of Country Music and Charley Pride check out the Ken Burns Doc on Country Music. You should be able to find it on the PBS app. I throw my local PBS a few bucks every year just to help out and I get the Passport service. It may be on Amazon Prime as well.
