I do know there are other ways people are getting their followers up. Most of it isn't organic anymore since IG fucked everyone with the algorithm. So hell people are paying for the automation ($30-$50 per month) to have outside companies do their engagement, liking and adding generic comments (mainly emojis) under pics. What you do is give them a list of accounts like yours and they'll target their followers. The idea is for them to then follow you after you've liked their pics and they notice you.
The other way people are getting their followers up is paying "influencers" to shout them out at strategic times. I know they get paid between $50 to $100 per post, sometimes more, depending on how many followers they have. It's always a specific post with a message for their followers to follow the other account.
After XXXTENTACION, they tried to announce big deals to other rappers to keep their people at play. Some of them were rattled. First they lie to them, tell them it was just a robbery, than they reassure them with money.
