That Electoral College is needed. The Founding Fathers knew what they were doing.
The GOP knew after the 2000 election they could not win by majority vote cuz their electorate was shrinking.
So they sat down and figured out how to get the Electoral Vote to work for them. The Democratic Party ignored the Electoral Vote and focused all their attention trying to convince the GOP electorate to vote for them.
Using the Popular Vote only sounds like good idea, but if you look at a lot of these wacky GOP politicians from Congress and going down ballot, they got in office by majority vote.
Also, you have to worry about “Wolves In Sheep Clothing”. The perfect examples are Senator’s Manchin and Sinema.
They talked the talk to get progressive Democrats to vote for them. Then as they got in office, they switched sides and buddy up with the GOP.
So with POTUS, the worst case is someone rising up and “Talking the Talk” working themselves up to POTUS, then after being sworn in, they pulls a “Hitler”.
And then we all sitting here looking like Dumb Fucks.
