SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT MUST GO AFTER RACIST COMMENT ABOUT TEXANS’ WATSON

Lynn Redden should not be the superintendent of Onalaska School District in Texas. There is no way a man who believes in deep-seeded, unfounded, racist stereotypes should be the lead educator for a community of young children.

In case you haven’t heard the story, Redden was critical of Houston Texans’ quarterback Deshaun Watson, who let the clock expire in the final moments of the Texans’ 20-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Like many outraged fans in every losing NFL city, Redden took to social media to vent his frustration. Only instead of criticizing Watson’s poor decision-making for what it was, a bad play,

Redden took it a step farther. He posted this on social media:“That may have been the most inept quarterbacking decision I have ever seen made in the NFL. When you need precision decision making you can’t count on a black
quarterback.

Some people just can’t help but let their racists views slip out. Redden is obviously saying black athletes rely strictly on their physical attributes, but when it comes to thinking, that’s a no-go.

Of course, Redden is sorry for the comment, but it is clear he is only sorry because the comment was made in a public forum (And to think, he was critical of Watson’s decision making).

But in further showing his ignorance, Redden tried to explain his comment by saying that: “Over the history of the NFL, they have had limited success.”

He apparently hasn’t heard of Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon, or Randall Cunningham, Steve McNair, Doug Williams and a host of other black quarterbacks who starred in the NFL.

And of course, for years black quarterbacks were not given the opportunity to play the position, mainly because of the very racist thinking that Redding is displaying today.

Redden is sorry because he has to be sorry in order to save his job. He is smart enough to understand that someone who has this kind of racist perception about the ability of a black quarterback to think, likely has the same calculations of a black kid’s ability to excel in the academic arena, which often requires ‘precision decision making.’

There is no way a man who thinks like Lynn Redden can be the education leader of a community. Here is hoping the Onalaska school board will relieve him of his duties, immediately.

On Tuesday, the school district posted a notice on its website that the school board would have a special meeting Saturday to discuss Redden's contract.

The board also released a statement to the Chronicle

"Onalaska ISD regrets that an inappropriate comment has been attributed to the district's superintendent," the board said. "The OISD does not condone negative comments or actions against any race. The district values every individual and therefore the district will take the appropriate measures to address the situation expeditiously and completely."

1.) He needs to be fired and any school district that hires him should receive backlash.
2.) Racism is crazy to me.Time after time excuses are made for white QBs. The term "Game Manager" is pretty much just an excuse for mediocre white QBs who play just mediocre enough to not lose with a superior team. There are numerous examples of black QBs and coaches that are unable to get on a team while white coaches and players with inferior output and ability cherry pick safe and secure jobs.Yet white folks continue to see things from the lens of blacks being inferior.

A Texas superintendent apologized Tuesday after he blasted Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson on social media, saying “you can’t count on a black quarterback.”

Lynn Redden, the Onalaska ISD Superintendent, posted his criticism on the Houston Chronicle Facebook page after the Texans’ loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, according to the newspaper. Redden referenced the last play of the game in which Watson held onto the ball in the final seconds.

“That may have been the most inept quarterback decision I've seen in the NFL,” he said of the former Clemson star. “When you need precision decision making you can't count on a black quarterback.”

Redden told the Houston Chronicle he deleted the comment after he realized it was a public post.

“I totally regret it,” Redden told the newspaper.

He said he could see how people would interpret his comment as racist, but he said he was talking about the lack of statistical success of black quarterbacks in the NFL.

“Over the history of the NFL, they have had limited success,” he told the newspaper.

Watson threw for 1,699 yards and 19 touchdowns in seven games last year. His season was derailed because of injury.

Doug Williams was the NFL’s first black quarterback to lead a team to a Super Bowl championship, helping the Washington Redskins to a win over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXII. He was named the game’s MVP after throwing four touchdowns.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson became the second black quarterback to lead his team to a Super Bowl title in 2014, helping defeat the Denver Broncos.

"When you need precision decision making you can't count on a black quarterback."

Matt Ericksen, who tipped the Houston Chronicle off about the comments, said he hopes some punishment comes out of it.

“It's important to make sure horrible words are met with consequences, especially for those in powerful positions with influence,” he said.

Redden said he hasn’t faced any repercussions from his Facebook comment. He said he hopes none of the 1,020 children who go to school in the district saw the post.

“I wish it had never been posted,” he said.

The superintendent of a Texas school district stepped down Saturday and is apologizing after he made racist comments about Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Lynn Redden, superintendent for the Onalaska Independent School District, submitted his resignation letter to the Board of Trustees during a special meeting held Saturday that was intended to discuss possible penalties for the educator.

"I want to express my deepest apologies to the Board of Trustees, Staff, Students and Patrons of the Onalaska Independent School District for the comments I made on Facebook," Redden said in his letter. "The comments were wrong and inappropriate and have been an embarrassment to the District, my family, friends and to me. For this I am deeply sorry."

The superintendent, who had worked for the district for 12 years, criticized Watson earlier in the week in a public Facebook post after the Texans lost to the Tennessee Titans last Sunday.

"That may have been the most inept quarterback decision I've seen in the NFL," he wrote on Facebook, according to Houston ABC station KTRK. "When you need precision decision making you can't count on a black quarterback."

Watson mostly brushed off the criticism when asked about Redden's comments during practice this week.

"I'm not worried about what he had to say," Watson told reporters. "I'm all about love, that's what I focus on."

Watson's teammates, including All-Pro defensive end J.J. Watt, were not as diplomatic.

"I think it's a very ignorant comment that doesn't deserve any more play," Watt told reporters Wednesday. "I don't think anyone who speaks like that should get any run. It's ridiculous."

Head coach Bill O'Brien made similar comments, calling Redden's words "ignorant and idiotic statements."

Redden admitted he has "a lot to learn" about the situation and praised Watson.

The 23-year-old quarterback is in his second season in the NFL and is currently one of four African-American starting NFL quarterbacks -- along with the Panthers' Cam Newton, Cowboys' Dak Prescott and Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes. The Buccaneers' Jameis Winston, currently under suspension, and Tyrod Taylor, who started for the Browns this week before being injured, are also regular starters.

"As an educator, this experience has taught me that I still have a lot to learn," Redden wrote. "My comments were not only uninformed but also hurtful and I understand now why they were offensive to so many people. I'd like to apologize directly to Deshaun Watson. I recognize that given the opportunity to respond by criticizing or belittling me, he chose peace and positivity instead.

"In spite of the terrible position I put him in, he showed himself to be the kind of role model I'd be proud for any of my students to follow," he added.

The Texans, who are off to a disappointing 0-2 start, play the New York Giants in Houston on Sunday.

The league has been embroiled in racial controversy for the past two years after former San Francisco 49ers quartback Colin Kaepernick began taking a knee before games to protest the treatment of minorities, especially by police. President Donald Trump criticized him publicly and repeatedly beginning at the start of the 2017 season. Kaepernick has not played the past two seasons and is suing the league claiming he's been blackballed.

Got to remember....he thought he was responding privately. So basically he puts on a front in public to hide his racist privacy. Ain't no way he can stand in front of his black colleagues now, with them knowing how he truly feels about blacks in private.
I'm surprised no one has burned his house down yet.

It's funny how many people with something to lose can't just shut the fuck up. I'm glad that these fools are outing themselves and being removed. Social media is a trap and these dumbasses fall for it because they have to let the world know their thoughts.
