He was bullshitting with you! The '72 Gran Torino was not the "baddest". My uncle had one (he was a die-hard Ford guy back then). Don't get me wrong they were nice cars, but by then they were already getting choked hp wise. 1970-1971 were the last years of big hp. Even though they kept the same engine sizes, they were restricted more and more each year.

Now if he had mentioned a 1969 Ford Torino 428 Cobra Jet that would have been another story!

Got the details Lord, his was gold with the black trim.
He did speak highly in regards to cobra setup.

Thanks! The 351 Cleveland was actually a good engine for its time. The Boss 351 was one of the fastest Mustangs of its time. :yes:

Even though I use to think that they were ugly as hell, because they were the largest Mustangs ever made. Mustangs were morphing from a muscle car into some huge Monte Carlo-like luxury coupe. Since horsepower was being cut, the size of it was going up for comfort. My uncle had one of those too, a 1972 Mach 1.

Now I actually like the 1971-1973 "large" Mustangs! Go figure! :lol:
