‘Nothing Has Been Done’: Judge Rebukes U.S. Effort to Return Wrongly Deported Man​

The judge also said she planned to force Trump officials to reveal what they have done behind the scenes to seek the return of the man, Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia.

“To date nothing has been done,” the judge, Paula Xinis, told a lawyer for the Justice Department. “Nothing.”

The stern words came during a hearing in Federal District Court in Maryland, where Judge Xinis said that she intended to force Trump officials to answer questions — both in writing and in depositions — about what they had done so far to get the man, Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, out of the prison.

Noting that every passing day was another that Mr. Abrego Garcia, a 29-year-old father of three, suffered harm in Salvadoran custody, the judge set up a fast schedule for officials to provide documents and sit for depositions.

Even while I support due process, I'm not prepared to go all out on this specific matter. The same is true for transgender rights, but allowing them to use women's restrooms and participate in women's sports would cost us elections. We need better solutions because all of this will be reenacted in the midterm elections. Just sayin

In Nov 2024 -- even though approx. 47% of Hispanic males voted for the ** "Tariff Man" & deserve NO-ZERO-ZILCH overtures of political solidarity from Blacks: 53% -- the majority -- voted for Kamala -- not for the pt-time ** "Oval Office occupant!" Given the ** "Golfer-in-Chief's" disregard for the Constitution & the rule of law-- Mr. Garcia's plight & fight is every American's fight! (** If I ever slip and refer to this convicted criminal as Prez -- please bring it to my attention! = "NOT MY PREZ!")
 
Don't know about protests for him per se but there should be some public backlash over Trump disregarding the Supreme Court. Seems to be a real bad slippery slope happening right in front of our eyes.

In addition, if the policy of the Gov't is that El Salvador won't give him back then the contract with that country and that prison needs to be terminated...the US should have some say so in returning prisoners back when there is a mistake. I don't believe this is what's happening but this is what they are going with so how can El Salvador say they aint sending him back when this is a specific contract they have with the United States.

I believe that "DUE PROCESS FOR ALL" would be the most effective signage. Because Democrats "want a terrorist/gang member in our country," according to Republicans. I hope it's obvious that no one does! The key is that he never has to justify his ambiguity! Therefore, it could be most beneficial to state what we all agree upon: due process for everyone.

This is more than just Kilmar Garcia....anymore than the protests in 2020 was ONLY about George Floyd. The peopel at the center of the issue is just the avatar of a policy/defacto behavior of fed/state/local govt that affects or potentially affects ALL OF US.

Everyone in the United States of America is protected by due process as matter of this country's constitution. Any violation of that should send shockwaves from one end to the other in this country. You have a sitting president blatantly saying he's seriously considering DEPORTING AMERICAN CITIZENS for crimes even tho he stipulates only the most seriously and violent of crimes. YET there is case where Garcia wasnt charged with much less convicted of a heinous violent crime...In fact he's committed NO violent crime in the US or El Salvador and yet he's designated a terrorist. And treated as if he DID do some of the most horrible things ms-13 members have done. Not only that they ADMITTTED to the court they fucked up on sweeping him up to Ice.

And he's STILL sitting in a jail cell. You got people sitting in American prisons falsely accused and wrongfully convicted on LESS than what they claim Garcia did and the president is talking about doing that with AMERICAN CITIZENS.

If that isnt a red flag to anyone I dont know what else to say..:smh::smh::smh:

El Salvador has no obligation to return it's own citizen to the United States.

the black American struggle IS NOT the illegal immigration struggle ... let's stop convoluting the two....

Black Americans have been fighting for due process since the inception of this nation ..they just slay us in the streets here or just bury you in a prison or stick you in a community of poverty and industrial waste

Let's focus on this issue for what it is : an Immigration matter ... black Americans have enough issues from health disparities, to wealth inequities, incarnation disparities etc but someone who ENTERED ILLEGALLY - not the fight to chariot .its a heart wrenching story but at the end of the day he is not a citizen... so should efforts be taken to prevent future occurrences (yes) but bringing him back (nah) ... help have him released and let his family pursue civil options if they exist

If he was sent there as part of this new contract that the US has with them where they are willing to take in deportees, they do unless they are charging him with a crime he committed in El Salvador.

He was sent to the prison and not sent the usual way deportees are sent home. Deportees dont usually go straight to prison once they reach their home countries.

Doesn't matter though, US Gov't is lying
