A Superior Court judge in Hartford Friday praised Harvey for her accomplishments, then sentenced the New Britain woman to 10 years behind bars, the maximum penalty under the reduced charge of which she was convicted.
A jury found Harvey guilty of second-degree manslaughter. Judge Raymond R. Norko said Friday that he believed the jury, aware of Harvey's accomplishments at the Niantic prison for women, had given her a break by convicting her of a charge far less serious than murder.
